It's a different situation. The V-Rod didn't replace the air cooled engine. It supplanted it. BMW isn't going to offer a choice between liquid and air cooled. You get water cooled if you want a GS.

The new Water Boxer is a single spark plug design, not dual plugs as the cam Heads, etc now have.

I haven't followed this thread completely, so if this has been said move along. But, having the transmission mounted under the cylinders most likely means they are using a cassette style transmission. Meaning, you can unbolt the pan and the transmission members stay in the pan as a whole assembly. This would make maintenance far easier and is a much more modern system, with the added benefit of mass centralization as pioneered by Erik Buell. I also noticed the oil filter sitting on the side forward and below the left cylinder making oil changes easier too.

the mistake Harley made is is the VRod is a 60 degree engine and just does not have the same sound as the 45 degree engine. When they make a 45 degree water cooled with hidden radiator it will sell. Just wait and see Well that and the Vrod styling. Someone should be shot.

S&S X wedge is a 54 degree engine and it sounds different too. AFAIK does not sell well either.

The traditional H-D V-Twin air cooled engine has a cult following. The V-Rod appeals to new H-D riders who are not necessarily loyal to the H-D brand. The V-Rod is probably H-D's best bike with all the technology that surrounds the model. If I were in the market for a H-D, it would be the V-Rod I would select...hands down.

As for the boxer, water or air, the engine will remain a 180degree twin...and the boxer also has a loyal following but not because of any cult.

No, there should be a new topic for anything that pops into anyone's head regardless of what else is out there

Add throttle-by-wire and here will be no need for TB synchronization either.

More time to ride and cheaper to maintain.

Liquid COOLED is what it looks like to me. Kind of like "4 Spark" or whatever it said on the dual plug oilheads.

Maybe the new wethead GS will allow the use of pond water in the cooling system during emergencies in the back country.

That's what I thought but could be "BMW Power" as well, whatever!
I'm pretty sure it doesn't say "Air-Cooled"
