Rear fender sub-frame
I worked on the design of the rear fender sub-frame today. Almost done. It will be 0.156 thick 5052 sheet aluminum and strong enough to hold a small rack to carry fluids and a small bag.
Heres what its looking like......

The long wait for the rear shocks is over - They arrived today
Too tired to install them tonight. Tomorrow most likely so will post then. Can you tell who makes them ??? Working with Klaus at YSS was a good experience. He's very technical and helpful.

Rear shocks installed and V&H SS2-R exhaust arrived today and installed. Getting closer...
![]() ![]() ![]() Muffler bracket was missing so I bent & cut an aluminum one up for now. Its too weak and flexible, so I will replace it with a stiffer one if I can still get it from V&H's (the SS2-R exhausts for the old sportys have been discontinued). If not, anyone out there have one they want to donate ? ...I mean sell ? ![]() Nice kick-stand too ......

The exhaust works well with the Chainsickle rear sets. Has clearance under the bracket/foot peg, and still tucked up nice along the bottom frame rail so no clearance lost.....and no burnt boots or pants
....Muffler exit is up high which should be good for those deep creek crossings....

JTH,I am curious as to the wheelbase now that you have your shocks installed?Your efforts are outstanding.I know how much thought goes into a project like yours.

The wheelbase (per design layout) is 63.4" unweighted, and 61.2" fully compressed suspension (~8" vertical travel). So, not sure how the bike mfg'ers spec their wheelbases, but I would think its somewhere between those two numbers. Maybe with 1" sag and rider on bike ??? Im still waiting for my stiffer fork springs from MX-Tech (0.70's) - then the bike should feel balanced when riding.

Im dying to hear the bike too! The gas tank needs a bracket welded to the frame top tube before I put gas in it and mount it. Maybe I'll connect a bottle w/ gas and fire it up. I'll post one if I do.
