I really like the lowered pegs, am I understanding right that Shane now offers the lowered brackets? I just picked up another 03 sporty, as my 1st dirtster is still in europe, so I can ride it more next summer.
I want to build one for the US, and there were a few problems I want to address with the new build, then I can ship the parts to europe to stick on bike #1 to make it better (the main thing is to lower the bike, and the pegs a little bit)

Hey Doug,

Same here - Liked your presentation at the show. For the lowered pegs - I worked with Shane to make lower brackets, which he now has the dwgs/models, but they only lowered the pegs about 1.25" - I was limited by the low exhaust pipe. If that works for you, Im sure Shane could hook you up. Just the two plates and the rest of your parts will work. For me, I wanted the pegs even lower for a better standing position, less cramped while seated, and a bit more robust for off-roading. So I went mid pipe, and decided to make my own foot controls that lowers them another 2+ inches and also added some styling that matched the swingarm, strengthened the peg mounting brackets a bit, and improved the shift lever bearing.

The 883 is getting a power boost this weekend - The 1250 cylinders and pistons from NRHS came in. It will also get some Andrews cams and a jet kit. After this, I think I can now call it a "dual sport hot rod"

Yes, absolutely ! - It will get one soon. It may cut 5-7 lbs off. I saw one at the store the other day and thought it was missing the internals - it was soo light. I think it may be smaller too - need to check. If so, I may need to make a smaller battery tray and clamp.

Has anyone else put a L-ION in a sporty ? Id like to see how you did it.

I have heard good things from the Buell crowd. I saw your battery tray there and it popped into my head. Cheap way to shave 7lbs.

I just checked the Shorai web site - looks like the case size #3 will fit the volume nicely - no redeisgn required. But if a smaller one is available with same CCA's, then that might be nice to reduce the size a bit. Per their website, a 10 lb savings

Looking good Jim. The 1250 will be nice, more than my 1200s and it's a hoot.
At some point we need to go for a spin and check out bike ;)
