I went with Andrews N4 cams. But, I made the mistake of not installing new lifters at the same time. Sure enough, I collaped a lifter and it never pumped up. Im now installing new lifters. Should have known better.
I didnt do any head work. They are still all stock. Just changed the carb jets, extra shim under the needle, and the CV slide to lighter plastic for better repsonse. The first ride I could feel the increased torque, but didnt rev it high as I was trying to keep rpm's down for a break-in. Then before a full breakin - the lifter collapsed. Should be repaired soon. After I ride it a bit, I'll determine if any more motor mod's are "needed"

Hey Jimmy,
Did you come up with pricing for the skid plate yet ? Seems that I may wind up with another Sporty a bit sooner than anticipated. For a tank I am having a local chopper shop widen a 3.3 peanut for me. Should hold about 4.3 gal when done.

sounds good jim. That combo should be a tq monster especially with the stock heads in place. do you have any plans on runing it on a dyno to get the numbers? I figure a solid 60+ hp with 70 or so lbs or TQ, depending on how that pipe works with the n4 cams

Yes, when Im done with the mods, I will dyno it. Im curious to see the numbers. I want to try to maximize the torque with optimizing the number of discs int the Supertrapp, so the dyno should be a good way to do that. I'll post when I do.

These get ride of the stock TrailTech brackets and hose clamps. Cleaner look and stronger... ![]() - Also had the rest of the prototype parts coated - brake pedal & shift lever anodized, and the exhaust heat shields powder coated black. ![]()

The gas tank painting has begun. Colors will be gloss black with gun-metal grey (matched color to the rack anodize) in the tear drops and top protrusions. Here's a preview. What looks like a dent is only masking....

Hey Jim Love the exhaust, but would have to change them out when riding the kids around. may be too big of a pain but who knows, love the look. whats your thoughts on the exhaust? do they get in the way when standing and off road riding? any heat issues? Just curious
I've also looked at the rsd tracker system. The thunderheader I have is working well and I like the sound but would like a high pipe if not giving up to much piratical riding ease ![]() then I found this company with heat shields and stepped headers http://pipedreamz.biz/freedom.html#a also come in chrome or black
