I might also get some rubber trim for around it.

[QUOTE=NortwestRider;15671599]Hey Barry.

One last question,How long are the brake lines that come with the DMC leading links??.I got a used set today but the brake lines were old and no good,so he didn't send them. Also ( ok so it's 2 questions !! ) Have you ever put new springs on a Vstrom??,if so what weight did you guys go in the rear??.Stock is 8.6 or so and I can get springs up to 21!!.The chart says for a 800 lb bike ( I figured bike + sidecar ) and a 300 lb rider they recomend a 16 kg spring !!!.[/QUOTE

We make up our own lines to the length needed. I can't remember doing a spring upgrade on any of the Vstoms yet. Most all the ones we have done were new bikes and some were done ahead of the install by the owners or they wanted to try it with the sidecar before deciding on suspension mods. B

Race Tech's web ordering has been broken for a long time. Give 'em a ring, they are nice and helpful. Especially if you're giving them money.

The windshield looks a bit too Mad Max-ish to me but if you like it, who cares?

I've heated the plexiglass in the oven and it worked great for my fairing.

We have done new V Strom sidecar builds which where the bike was right out of the box except for dealer prep. The stock suspensions are misrably soft. The bikes also beg for a larger rear sproket.
An antiswaybar helps some but they still need some upgrades with the shocks and springs to handle well.
Modifed trees or anything that changes the leverage working on the front forks agrivates the softness.

Eh? Plexi springs

Hi I like the Mad Max screen. Tough bugs to get through that one. Have you tried using a spade bit to drill Plexi? (wood bit)
Jay gave a good price on a 10.5 Kg rear spring for mine. Though the ducks guts would be the Wilbers taylor made job. But the price here was $1076 I think plus another $300 odd for the version with the remote adjuster.
Ouchy.

I'm a BIG boy and I tend to carry alot of stuff so I went with a very heavy rear spring,16 KG.It might be to heavy but I tend to stress the suspension so I kinda went over kill ( plus my car is a bit heavy also! ).Here are some new pics..

Looks good, you've made some smart tuning modifications.
I like it stout in the rear for the 2 lane, double track, no track I do.
Go Max. now and you can always dial it back to wallow later.

Your bike is looking like a monster! Go cut some brush with that prow.

Still looks a little tall. Little weight down low never hurts in the corners.

With the diamond plate up top and down low, I'm finally convinced that the blue fairings gotta go. Time to get out the DuPont Hot Rod Black again and fire up that spray gun.

Funny you should say that,I was just telling a friend not 5 minutes ago that I have enough paint left to paint the bike !!!.I have been saying since the day I bought the bike that if it ever needed touched up that it would go black ( I went to the dealer to by a black one BUT I got a left over blue one for $3,000 less.).I was thinking that a diamond plate windshield on the bike ( when the bike is painted black ) would look pretty cool !!
