There is a double lens shield coming soon, we received a prototype a week ago to test:

This one is not final, but close. It uses a pretty trick Japanese anti-fog coating on it. Delivery on these is looking like late July / early August. I plan to try it out this weekend.

The heated shields are really interesting and will open up the use of the 39 enormously. Snow, cold weather, etc. They will be available in Fall 2012.

Other AFX FX-39 News...

There are some other new SKUs coming from AFX, arriving approximately mid February. Several new colors, including this red, which happens to perfectly match 2 motorcycles in my garage:

Additionally, the FX-39s will be coming in sizes 3XL and 4XL. Considering this model runs a little large, I would guess than anyone on the panel can either wear one, or bathe in it.

Sweet. Very interested in the chin curtain, the breath guard (sooner the better) and the heated and double shield.

Please keep us posted....

A revolution in AFX helmets. But my votes are for the chin curtain and the breath guard as heated shield would just add up a bit weight pressure and cabling on the head. Nevertheless, many skiers use them. Not common with motobikers.Must wait and see, anyways. Thanks Brian for the info
Add up: here is what I once found and read. Interesting work: http://www.ibmwr.org/otech/visor.html

I'm interested in the chin curtain and the dark smoke outer shield. That should make this helmet perfect for me.

Well that's not good news. Guess it's more like a 2012.5 catalog

Looks like I will be sticking with another helmet until then. I wear glasses and the lack of the sunshield makes my eastward morning, and westward evening commutes unbearable.

I don't understand why manufacturers wait until the USA summer is half gone to make new products available. As a consumer I want my stuff at the beginning of the season.
