Absolutely. It lowers the value $2 to $5K because they're so finicky. Very few want an S model except those who really go for the esoteric. It's sort of the pariah of the /2's, really. You could probably foist it off on some unsuspecting rube because he sees the tank badge.

(Anyone have a really wet string mop handy?)

69s is worth more then a 60/2, it's the 'sports' version, over here it's more sought after. What is the worth then? I don't know. What does the seller think and what is it to you? If those figures match, then that's the worth. Sorry I can't help you there.

offer your 2nd child for indentured servitude and hope for the best

so many variables and no pics... we need a crystal ball smiley.
2k is a start.

If I was the original owner of a '61 R69S in decent condition only needing carburetor rebuild, fresh battery and a tune-up to get it running I'd be quite comfortable holding out for 4k... easy... and I like to think I'm a generous person

This is the God's Truth.

I know where there is a gathering of R69S BMWs that is unparalleled. When the garage door was opened, there were 6 staring me in the face, perfect. Beyond a door, 30 more. All R69S...

And the house was full of replacement parts. Fenders, handlebars, exhaust, gas tanks, all NOS.

And I am not telling where. Nyah nyah nyah.

Sooner or later they will trickle into the market. Maybe.

go get in over your head
it's worth it.

Chicago area offers plenty of support for aged Airheads.

It will keep you out of the poolroom.
Sounds like your mech. wants it to go to a good home.

First it was an R60, now it's an S...
First it was to be had for 2K, now that's an offer...
This entire deal has changed dramatically in less than 12 hours...
I retract my recommendation that you try to buy that bike, whatever it is...
If you think that it MAY be out of your price range, it most certainly IS.
