I heard the Vista Ridge trail, through the burn, the trail is like 3" of powder like dust and burn ash. Fun fun on a hot day.

Lava Lovers Lounge

After subscribing to and following this tread for the last several months, I decided those of us further south needed something similar for Central Oregon riding.

So I've begun the Lava Lovers Lounge thread and posted a RR for today's ride to Wolf Mtn. Lookout.

If you are talking about riding 4613 from 4614 to 4610 (click here for map) I have not been North of the river this year. So unless you know something I don't, I would think it's passable.

No guarantees but I might be able to head up there and check over the weekend if the wife does not have other plans.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Followup.....

So I rode up river Sunday and hit 4610 off Hwy 224 at North Fork Reservoir. Hit a few dirt side trails while I worked my way over to 4613. Took 4613 over to 4614 also exploring a few side roads along the way. There is some logging going on in the area but nobody working since it was Sunday. As far as I can tell everything was open but there were a few signs about staying on maintained roads because of fire dangers.

Is this the area you were asking about (see map link in my original reply above)? Or since you are located in Hood River are there other sections of 4610 / 4613 that are farther East that I'm not aware of?

Side note:
This was the first dirt/gravel my KLX has seen since buying it a few weeks ago. It did better than I thought it would with the stock tires.

Tell me about this vest that Susi is wearing. It looks like it offers good protection........is it comfortable?

I was thinking about just getting shoulder and elbow guards but this looks interesting.

Thanks,

Jon...

I don't recall hearing her complain about it. She bought it at Beaverton Motorcycles, and I don't think it was too expensive. Sorry, don't know anything more about it.

I recently got another armor setup myself. At the recommendation of Brian at Atomic Moto, I tried and purchased two pieces:
http://www.atomic-moto.com/Rockgardn...ase_p_528.html
http://www.atomic-moto.com/Leatt-Adv...ite_p_463.html

The first of course provides the elbow and shoulder protection, and the Leatt the chest and back--it is SOLID. The separate pieces allow for more body movement, it doesn't feel as restrictive--though I can't say I felt restricted in my previous pressure suit.

WOW, things sure have changed since I last bought off-road moto gear. Looks like I have a lot more research to do than I thought.

Thanks for the links, that's a cool site.

Edit:
I just noticed that Atomic Moto is located in Bend. Do they have a store front where I can try on gear or are they mail order only?

If you are going to purchase new gear, I highly recommend you try it on first. I originally purchased one compression suit, wore it for awhile but hated how it fit. I dug into my chest when I wore a Camelbak. After trying several on at Atomic Moto in purchased this and am very happy with it. I especially like how the back-brace/kidney belt is part of the unit.

They do not have a storefront, per se, but Brian will accommodate you at his office/warehouse.

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions on gear.

I completely agree it's best to try on a few different ones to see what works and what does not. Atomic Moto seems to have a good selection to chose from and from looking over their site they provide a lot of good info on what they sell. I was out at Beaverton Bob's picking up a helmet (Fox V4) and they have a few things including the one Susi is wearing in the photo. So I'll check out what they have there to start with.

My wife likes the shops in Sisters so maybe I can talk her into a road trip to Bend if I suggest stopping in Sisters while we are in the area

*%$&*#$@% Hoodlums

A person can't ride anywhere these days without some yeyhoo gangster leaving his gang signs all over the place. I mean, I can understand it in the big cities like New York, Portland, Parkdale, etc. But out in the middle of God's creation.?.? I mean, come on, bunch of gangster punks who think they can leave their tag anywhere they please. Well enough is enough.

Here's the situation: I was minding my own business out in the beauty of Central Oregon, stopped to take some pictures of the beautiful scenery and right there on one of the very last Juniper trees left standing in the entire state someone took the liberty to completely destroy my peaceful revery by tagging this proud symbol of all that is right with the world. (please begin whistling the national anthem as you finish reading this post....you will if you are truly an American!)

Well, we shouldn't stand for this. I know you all are a bunch of extremely helpful, trash recycling, Prius driving, nature loving people. Lets not let the animal who would do such a thing get away with this. Please help me locate and bring to the justice of the Sierra Club the monster who would ruin all of Central Oregon with their gangster graffiti. Anyone know who this is?:
