Laugh Big day!

Well, it's a good day, my son went out on his first motorcycle ride ever with me today! Yes, you heard that right, up until today he has only spent time on his mountain bike and a very limited amount of time on a small Honda that his mother has on her orchard. He started showing a little interest in motorcycles and dual sports after watching Natalie and I take off on the bikes and seeing all the photo's. So he went in the other day and got his learners permit so that we could go out and ride together, next in his future will be a "Team Oregon" class! In the mean time we can spend a little time out in the mountains together.

Natalie's little KLX 250 got a workout today, figured a good starter ride for him, so that I could keep his attention, would be to start out with Mt Defiance then over to Black Lake and then throw in some single track on the way home!

Darn kid did not come off that thing once! Bad news is, he started eyeing my 450 after a couple hours on the KLX!

A couple photo's of Malcolm today up on Mt Defiance.

There goes the orchard equipment budget

Looks like a chip off the old block... except that look of disappointment for being made to stop

Hay, good idea! He's going to be hanging out and bored at the UO the next four years I'll send him over to your place.... Have to warn ya though, he can be a bit of a smart ass and he has a real dry sense of humor, don't know if you could deal with it!

As for that bike, still need to get down your way! Natalie's two girls are the ones that need some entertainment!

That's awesome Craig. Another riding partner close to home. Schweet! He needs a handle on here so we can spur his interest into dad buying him something of his own. We like to do that......

Forest Service road maintenance

Has the US Forest Service completely stopped maintaining roads? I have not found a trimmed back road this year (except above Lost Lake which the bicycle racers paid for). Today I had a medieval jousting contest with Sir Branch-A-Lot, riding down the center hump of a forest service road, dodging sharp sticks and hoping that I didnít meet a SUV. Maybe they should fire some GS-15s and actually do some work!!!

It's been bad for the last few years around here...
But, fresh brush cuts on FS42 (Pinhead Creek Rd) from Timothy Lake all the way to FS46 (Clackamas River Rd), and FS16 (Red Hill/Marco Creek Rd) from Parkdale to Lolo Pass.

So far, only these two one lane pavers have seen the brush machines around here. The Forest Circus seems to think the loggers and rednecks do a good enough job keeping everything else clear.

Broughton Fire

You donít think about fire as a motorcycle hazard, but I do now. Man, if I had done yesterdays ride today, I would be in a real shit storm. Yesterday, I rode into Willard at noon and went the length of Big Huckleberry Road (6605) to the end and back down the Cook-Underwood Road to 14. Today, you can see the smoke from Cloud Cap and looks worse as you get closer to Hood River. .

Those roads would still be OK.
This fire is on the East side of the White Salmon River.

...and not stopping by to say "Hi" ??

Was at home pouring concrete, I could have used a supervisor,
and I was ready for a drink after !!
