Aound the Hood...kind of!

Headed out on an afternoon ride today, to see how far i could get up the Clac River.

No snow at south entrance to Timothy, 46.

Who am i to go against the grain?!

Coupla miles past the Olallie turn off, heading towards Detroit.

Pretty easy going, for approx 3 miles.

Down the pass & out of it.

Arriving at Detroit Lake at the marina...low tide.

Coffee & fuel, 180 & back into it. Whooda guessed, i met an Aussie guy from Salem there, who offered to take my photo, bloody foreigners...they're everywhere!

Northern end of marina (water is usually from tree line to tree line)..

Heading back to Estacada.

That summit is at 3600'.

After riding through the snow, rest of the road back to Estacada seemed easy, had a nice blast through there...like always (well except those beautiful winter sunny morning rides up there, when the frost & ice is still up the top end of the road near the springs)!

Told the wife that i'd call her when i got through to Estacada (no cell coverage through the upper end of the river).
What better place to stop & make a call than the warmth of a cozy watering hole!

Great afternoon trip, braving the elements, surprised to get a fairly clear run, just in time i think, while the temps are still above freezing.

Way to go Neil! Looks like a great ride, and good place to "warm" up.

Yeah, i could hear the wise one's saying...that'll do ya. But there was enough light left, 30mls to Detroit or 40mls back to Estacada, i wanted fuel. The snow was the right temp, i realised i would drop in elevation soon to Detroit, talked to a guy at the summit, who'd come from Detroit...said that it was clear again 1ml further on...go for it!!
Sometimes you can add some risk to it when there's no one else with you to be concerned about.
Glad i did it!

That looks pretty tricky, a guy could end up on his head in the river.
