mtbdemon SAYS he'll do it with me, You listening mtbdemon??? It's on MortimerSickle's "Dream Rides" list on his profile....... Sounds like an ADV EVENT ! My calendar is filling up with fun stuff, not counting my weeklies, but the first half of July is light, and so is the second half of September, or just after WetFest in Tumalo. When will it work for you? Quote:
and I'm gonna do 'em all anyway. Fuck it, I gots some shit to see, and a life to LIVE. Sounds corny, but that's where I'm at, at 47 years old. PS: and I remember that pic from your beer run thread, but I don't think it is Mill Creek Rd. I don't recognize it with the bridge Edit: Looks like maybe the botton of Husky Rd towards Mosier, maybe. Down the hill & to the East off of Elder Rd and The Dalles Mtn Rd

And if you are talking about the photo with the two bikes on the bridge, that's the bridge over Rock Creek.

Geesh Give a guy a break
I can only take so much of this talk. Fine I give. I will be traveling over the next couple of weeks but I think I will have to give in and crate up the parts for the 650 and ship them off since I know then by the time I get home it will already be back and done and ready to be put in the bike. Then will just need a few things like seat and so on.

What part of the OBDR are you thinking of doing? I have some extra time to take off this summer and would like to do the OBDR Lakeview to Walla Walla. I have all the tracks for this section. My schedule is somewhat flexiable. If you are willing to let me in on it.

So I'm thinking the Ochoco ride is on if the weather is doable, and right now the weather is great! I'm going to start a new thread to unclutter this one. I might be in for the OBDR depending when it happens, I've rode the #3 before and had a blast.

I figure I need the very first person to step up and set a date with me, then there is the date, and the rest can come along if it works for them. Craig, Is that Rock Creek on Husky Rd, down the steep hill from Elder Rd? That's where that picture is in my head. Quote:
I wanna do the whole damn thing, and take a week to do it. Quote:

![]() I've been watching the thread carefully, but it's another week of vacation, and I've already got more than 6 weeks scheduled off for biking stuff this Summer. I did "Sound Rider's Sasquatch" ride 2 years ago that went from Hood River to Canada off-Highway through the Cascades on several of the same roads as the WA-DR. I spent 4 days riding North, and one long day riding back solo to Hood River the hard way through Wenatchee Forest, etc. I spent 8 days last Summer Cage-Camping with wife & dogs all around Winthrop and the North Cascades area, and we stayed in the deep woods the whole time. We only came back out to civilization once. It was awesome and relaxing. So, it's not like I don't want to do WA again, and it sounds like a kick-ass time for sure with ADVers, It's just that I feel I've seen some of the WA Cascades already, and so much other stuff is just higher on my "many-day" rides list for THIS year. The Oregon area on the OBCDR comprises area I have not been to at all, neither in Cage or on Bike, and I feel I need to see it, this year.

This week's big ride: Friday, Feb 18th.
This week's big ride: Friday, Feb 18th.
South Washington: Bingen, Lyle, Klickitat, Wahkiacus, Firwood, Goldendale, Cleveland, Bickleton, Roosevelt, then back to The Dalles by 6:30pm. This week looks like a lot of rain, but as of today, Friday says only "chance of rain". It's the last day of the week, so I can't push it any further. East is usually best, to avoid the rains, so...... I want to start going up the Klickitat River Canyon, Hwy 142, through Klickitat and Wahkiacus. Somewhere North of there I intend to find an off-hwy dirt road and head NE-ish. The maps shows a little town/community (maybe nothing) called Firwood: I want to find it .From there, I intend to explore the forested roads South of the Yakima Indian Reservation, until I'm tired of it, or get snowed out. Then head South-East to gas up in Goldendale and then ride more to the East, to Bickleton. This two-lane Hwy to Bickleton through Badger Gulch is in a book somewhere of "Best Motorcycle Roads", or something. I don't know which book, really, I just want to go to Bickleton, because I've never been there Two roads lead South to Roosevelt, then Hwy 14 back to The Dalles. I have to be back at The Dalles by 6:30pm for the 21st B-Day party for my God-Daughter. Can't Miss it. So, again, I'll ask..... Who's IN?

Really I have mucho freedom to ride. Sounds about right and as Craig says. We just winged it through the area after some miscued gps routing. My OBDR maps will be here any day. I will consult with my Wenatchee buddy and put together a date. I think with his time allowed we may only be doing part of the OBDR. I have to ride to Spearfish SD also this summer to scatter ashes... I will follow this thread closely.

John (asrivor) and I have been planning on riding the OBDR last week in July. I know Jesse (Jungle Man) wants to ride it too. So....date laid down. Last week of July.
I can flex (some) right now....I won't be able to flex the date much if I leave it to late june to set it (not sure about John....not sure about Jesse either). I'm planning on riding it on the KLR...not the GS. S1
