only the lonely

and I thought I was the only one , the flapper thingy should be a "sportsound valve" if you want you can and if not silence is golden.
45 min of 140 km/h yesterday left me with a buzzin' head and ditto right hand

My Hattech Double exhaust is about 3 to 5 dB(A) quieter than stock on my 2010 GS. And it allows two same sized panniers.

Or is it just me? I love the torquey new motor but the louder growl just gets on my nerves after a while. I really loved the "stealth mode" of my 07 R12RT--quiet, like an F-16 at mach 1 until it passes you.

I know lotsa folks here love the new sound. Good for them. I'm glad they're happy.

So does anybody else feel the same way about their 2010 or newer GS? Does anyone know what would be involved to tone the sound down a few Db ? Do the new RT's sound the same? Not that I want an RT, just curious. (yes, I wear earplugs)
How can you say that its too loud??!!??
Dont you know how many lives you're saving?

And, I haven't ordered yet as I had other things to take care of first, but these are the two case sizes that I can mount:

Mine will have the high double exhaust, obviously.

actually thought the stock pipes were pretty wussy sounding for a big twin... full Remus system shows up on Wed

If I wanted a quiet BMW, I'd take one of my cars...

Just don't live on my street. I hate the asshole with the Harley that rides through our street during the weekends, going slow and still the windows shake.

JR356 you are truly a problem solver. I suspect you are an engineer.

I generally like the sound of the engine on most bikes, but there is something about the GS engine that I am not crazy about... haven't put my finger on it.

I have a ducati with the full termi exhaust, and the sound of that engine screaming at 10000 rpm is intoxicating.

Several HD riders do the same thing on my street. I plan to leave the extra silencer in around town actually. I try not to be as obnoxious as humanly possible at all times lol.

They're not the most exciting sounding motors, but I didn't buy the GS for the sound it makes, that's for sure!

Cug, whats the final verdict on the Hattech's? Extra vibes or not? As for the sound, is it close to the pre-2010 GS's? I am still looking for a bolt-on solution that will take my 2010 GS to the RT sound.....

Thats fine, you boys enjoy your Termi's and Remus' while ya can, cause the "quiet-pipes-save-eardrums" crowd will win this one in the near future. And then you boys will be scouring Ebay trying to score a beat-up old OEM take-off that you sold for $20 three years back.....'cept now it's worth $300!

No extra vibes. I switched back to OEM and again to the Hattech - no difference. I did mount it a bit different than what the "normal" way would be. They don't have the rubber mounting system like the OEM, so I bought 6 rubber washers and two large metal washers and mounted the exhaust hanger between 3 rubber washers per side. Works just fine. Sound is quiet but nice.
