I'll toss my 2 cents into the ring and suggest you look at the Genuine Buddy 125, Buddy International 150 or Blur 220i.

They're lightweight, you can probably find a used one, have decent storage, very reliable, and the Buddy in particular has a gentle look.

I've taken my Buddy 150 on I-195 for a couple of exits to get from one local road to another. It'll run at 60-65mph with no issues but the wind buffeting requires some skill; well, maybe not skill, just a head that won't freak out.

If most of the riding is on 45-50 mph roads, you can't go wrong with a 125-150. If she wants to step it up eventually, get another bike. You've probably gone through multiple bikes, why shouldn't she? I've got 4 scoots and 3 bikes of my own.

On a side note, I'm sorry for you guys who want a girl who rides and yet can't seem to find one. I've gotten more women into riding than I can count; I am trying to help you out!
