Just completed the full 2:1 system with a single Remus Ti.

Has anyone remapped due to the single output or are you just using the same as prior? Not to make this a mapping thread, but wondering if the Akro map is still the most appropriate with a single can.

I went ahead and weighed the oem exhaust:

07 990 Adventure oem can with mount


2 into 2 pipe (ignore the clamp, the scale was zeroed with it on there)

Thanks, Steve! Great to get some verified weights on these things. I plan on eventually doing the 2into1 exhaust thing and a lighter Shorai battery in my 990. That should shave (say that five times fast!) about 22 lbs in total. I've also lost about 15 lbs. myself, so the combination of the two should be a pretty big help in muscling the big girl around.

Not sure what other weight savings I can do to the bike that doesn't involve giving up something that I like about it.

You'll never make it light enough to push it very far, so make sure to add the advtank to the left side to gain 2.2 gallons of fuel capacity.

I'm not suing the Akro map just the standard map and I have the same setup on a 2010 990. I'd think the Akro map, which puts too much fuel into the system for dual exhaust would put way too much fuel in with the single exhaust.

Map Changed:

I changed back to the stock map - no O2 and the bike runs fine. A little popping on decel, but so far so good otherwise. Gotta love it when you can flash your own maps in less than 5 minutes. Oh, and the bike isn't twice less noisy....ha. Still has a pretty loud growl coming through that one Remus can. Good for lane splitting in the morning while in the webster tube (Alameda - Oakland). Very Narrow!!

So if I understand correct, going into 2in1 from the stock doesn't need any mapping right? If so, I'll be happy as I am far from dealers.

And one more question: Is there something specific when selecting cans? I mean, I have an Akrapovic Ti can for a F800GS and wondering if it is ok if I fit it on my '06 990 Adv as a single can?

I didn't remap my 2010 990. The shop I bought the setup from told me it wasn't necessary. I've not had any problems with the FI after going to the single exhaust.

With the standard 2-1 your forcing two cylinders to breath through one exhaust can. If the inside diameter is roughly the same as one of the originals/aftermarket cans in general your bike will be a little richer. Nothing specific except mounting. If the Akra can off your F800 can be mounted up run it. I suspect you will need some type of custom mount and bracket made up.

Yes, mounting is not a problem, I can do that. I was searching and thingking about this for a while and the mapping was my only concern.
