Husqvarna TE 449 RR

Well, according to the entry list of the 2011 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2011, there are 2 Husqvarna TE449 RR bikes entered.

http://www.abudhabidesertchallenge.c...Entry_List.pdf

This is not unexpected due to the BMW/Husqvarna 'Alliance', but i wasn't aware of any 'Rallye Kit' (tanks etc.) being available for the Husky yet?

I suppose it may be plausable that although they are 'Huskys', they may have some kind of hybrid build that incorporates G450X frames and Tanks, with the Husky engine?

Does anyone have any information/photos of these bikes?

Bianchi Prata will be running the TE 449's I think.

Frans (from what I was told a month or so ago) will be on the BMW...

Check out Bianchi Prata's facebook page for daily (!!) updates with pics and videos!

They-the Husky 449RR- have been in the works for awhile. There was behind the scenes attempt to get a 2011 Husky dakar team, (and baja 1000 team) and rumor had it Mr. Riff Raff himself was asked to get on board. In the end it didnt come together.

Its worth noting the frame and many other parts are different between the G450 BMW and the Husky 449, so kits and the like are not gonna bolt on both bikes. Plus of course the BMW is no longer in production.

The Husky is a dakar natural in terms of the motor, and given all the G450 hiccups it makes sense to prove the motor at dakar.

Ive thought about talking to them, Husky helped my in '07. Who knows. For sure its a bike to consider. That motor has great potential for an endurance race like this one.

I sent an email to Speedbrain back in January making enquiries if they were going to make, or modify, their kit to suit the Husky frame, now that the BMW was out of production?

Their response was:
Dear David,
sorry for my late reply!
In the near future we´ll not switch our Rally Bike to Husqvarna. Sorry!

Best regards,
Katja Kunerth

I thought this was an odd response considering that the BMW was out of production, so to now see an entry in the ADDC listed as:
"Husqvarna Monster Energy Speedbrain - TE 449 RR"
makes you wonder if they really understood what was going on?

So the question still remains, for those wanting to race a Speedbrain TE449RR in Dakar 2012, do you need to buy not only the Bike, but also a blank G450X frame, so that you can mount the Speedbrain RR kit?

Will be interesting to see what Touratech come up with.
According to Touratech UK, they are working with Safari tanks in Aus to build a long range tank to suit the 449.

Its a little unfortunate, that waiting all these years waiting for a long range tank for the 450/510 Huskys, Safari finaly release it just as the bike model is superseeded.

So what does the Chassis say: Husky or BMW ?

Must make it interesting at Scrutineerining.

Rally Tank

The rally tank produced by Bert and Frans for the BMW is just fantastic. It is a pity that the Husky looks quite different in frame and sidecovers as it would be perfect if the Bert tank sold by Speedbrain could fit.

The tank is so much better and practical than the Touratech/Safari effort for rally purposes. I have one and I know

I hope someone can convince Bert to tackle the Husky.

Cheers
