Though it is expensive, I am going to give the truck-lite LED headlight a try on my XR650L. I talked to a couple guys that have them on their military vehicle and say the LED light is amazing and it draws only 35w on low beam. If its as good as they say you won't need any extra lights. Will report back. Hoping to get it on mid November.

VXA Luggage Rack
I made this rack to the size of the Rotopax 2 Gallon fuel container, it just fits inside and can put other things on top and all held in with a small cargo net.

Yes I know, but it may very well be the last headlight I ever buy for that motorcycle and they are super bright. Supposed to be good for 50,000 hours of burn time.

LED Headlight
Quote:
I have to admit that I hadn't looked into the LED Headlight before, but what I have learned is that the LED made by truck-lite is the best you can buy, they are nearly indestructible, draws only 35w, and with 50,000 hours of burn time, like you have already pointed out, well safe to say I wouldn't be able to burn one out. There are several other cheaper ones out there, but funny, they don't give any specs on them. They actually use the original replaceable bulb in the LED assembly, like two bulbs in one. You can get them all on ebay, the truck-lite for about $285 and the cheaper version, two for $50. If the $s weren't a major factor, I would go with truck-lite, however I just might give the cheaper version a try and put one on the VAX and the other one on the VS1400 because they are still brighter than the other high intensity bulbs we are using. Thanks for bringing up the LED subject, could be helpful to other riders out there also. After a little more searching , I cannot find any info on the cheaper bulbs, I think they are only for looks. If anyone knows for sure, please respond and I'll keep looking also. Vxa vs1400
![]() Now with the VXA nearing completion, I thought I'd show off my VS1400, the gas tank in particular. I took a two piece Fat Bob tank and made 5.7 gallon tank out of it. With the help of my nephew who is a much better welder than I am, I think we did a nice job. At least I'm happy with it. ![]() ![]() LikeItLoud ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Though with each passing day I grow older, I REFUSE to grow up! |

Hey Magneto, your dad has us whipped right now. We need to get on the ball. Looking great Like it loud, you are ready to go. Are you going to give her a shake down run or two?

O YA, Its going to have several shake down rides before we go. I want to put about a 1000 miles on it first. Even though I have been thru it from the ground up and end to end, I want to be sure that I like all the changes I have made to it. I am even going to load it down to be sure I like the way it handles. So far it runs like a top, awesome. Two more changes taking place this week, than I call it officially complete. One of the changes I completed today, will have the pics up in a day or two. I did a little something to the seat. I think that bike needs to be in Missouri for the Swinging Bridges ride next May. Maybe stick around for the SLAP. What do you think, Unk? If he makes it from Idaho to Missouri and back, including swinging bridges, I'd say he's ready.

I thought about that, but he wouldn't be able to ride his VXA down and bring another bike. Sometimes a trailer is good for more than just boats.
