Dual Sport Trailers

C2, what a coincidence! I just ran across the Dual Sport Trailer thread this past week and was immediately drawn to the Moto-Mule. I saw the video of one of the other trailers doing some fairly serious dual sporting and was very impressed. I think a trailer like the Moto-Mule would be awesome for hauling camping gear to the campsite, unhook, set up camp and do day rides. It could be good for road trips too and it appears that the bike would handle better without having all the weight on the bike as you said. I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing some trip reports with the Moto-Mule. It looks like an excellent design.

Pelican IM2620 Top Case

Top View of case. Yes you can get a helmet inside in a pinch (and that's exactly what happens). You have to lay it on its side and close the lid on it and the lid makes contact and flexes a bit, but it will close and latch.

Pelican IM2620 Case

Bottom view. This is a rolling case with the telescoping wheel frame removed. I used Happy Trail's pannier mounting system which clamps nicely onto the rear rack frame. They make mounts that attach to 5/8" and 3/4" tube. Be sure you get the kit for the proper tubing size. I made the 90 degree tabs and attached them to the bottom of the case with pop rivets so the case wouldn't slide around on the rack. All that stuff on the bottom of the case is well protected enough or robust enough that you can remove the case from the bike and use it for a camp stool. The duct tape was backing for a couple of holes I plugged with epoxy putty and the tape was later removed. The Moab mud is for authentic Adventure Rider effect.

The best ride I've ever been on is usually the last one and the next one.

Question LED's ??

Hey Aleeoop ...

Like others have already mentioned - Nicely Set-up DR !

Curious to how bright the LED's are ?? In both the tail and brake light modes ??

Thanks ...

The LED tail lights and brake lights are very bright. One comment I received was "that thing is lit up like a semi".

Finished my switch holder today, and new cockpit layout. Switch holder bracket is made from 1" Angle Aluminum. Both the bracket and 12v outlet are bolted to the headlight shroud. I think I will buy the screw cap covers, to hide the bolt heads.

The one switch controls my headlight low beam. Eventually, I will install heated grips, and aux lighting, and those switches will also find there home on the bracket.

Sorry about the crappy cell phone pic, thought these Iphones are supposed to have good cameras

As you mentioned, this seems to be well suited for the DR, just as extremely versatile.

I'll report back with pics and experience.
Ordered it Monday last week directly from Mark, who told me everything was in stock and it could go out immediately. Still hasn't shipped. Not thrilled with the service but very anxious to get the product. Hopefully it will ship out this week...

For those of you who use the Pelican cases, where do you get the racks for them? Does Pelican make their own or should I GL through another company like SW Motech?

moto-sport paniers used to make racks. fatchance's bike has those w. 1520 pelicans. twisted throttle has motech racks that will work. turbo city makes racks and also moose rebrands them & includes pelicans as a kit. that setup also includes a rear rack. the new wolfman v2 side racks now have 4 mount points the ability to use pelicans.

i'd say the turbocity/moose OR wolfman setup would be my 2 choices.
i like how the pelican 1520 fits on the DR but the bigger 1550 will also work.

carribou cases has pelicans with intergrated locks or use pad locks.
carribou use to offer a dr rack but no longer.

I think Happy Trails will work too.
