(76-47) Hughes comes through going seven & two thirds for a win. Martin with two homers and 3 RBI's. Burnett vs. Liriano tonight. Let's see if AJ can win a game in August.

(76-48) The pitching match up looked good on paper, but Burnett is a head case. Seven runs on 5 hits and 3 walks in 1 and 2/3rds innings. Pitiful. Nova vs. Blackburn tonight.

No such thing as a good looking pitching *anything* with aj these days.

And the problem isn't that he's a head case - it's that whatever semblence of control he had (never much) on his pitches appears to have abandoned him. And he's lost some velocity on his fast ball too. Hopefully he finds one or the other in the next month...

(77-49) Colon gives up 5 runs in 6 & 1/3rd innings and the offense comes through late in the game. A one run loss is always tough to live with at home.

(77-50) CC is denied #18 and Soriano gives up the winning runs. Bummer........two nights in a row. Hughes needs to come through tonight.

That was one hell of a win today!!

3 grannies in one game, first time in MLB history!

Jeter back in prime form. AVG now at an even 300. Who would have thought, everyone pretty much wrote Jeter off, good to see him rebound the way he has.

(78-50) "Good things come to he who waits." Three Grand Slams off of 3 different pitchers by Cano. Martin, & Granderson. Is this the turning point? Burnett is the big question tonight.

(78-51) Burnett has got to go.....................116 pitches in 5 innings/38 in the second inning alone is absurd given the salary he is paid: 16.5 million per year through 2013.

(81-52) Irene has taken it's toll at my nest, but somehow we are within a half a game of Boston. Tonight pits Beckett against Hughes. Last night was a surprise with Sabathia getting his 18th win.

Good game last night.

CC finally picked up a win against Boston!

Boone Logan came up big in the 7th, loaded bases and strikes out two to get out of the jam.

A little drama last night, Cervelli gets plunked, will there be retribution tonight?

And another crap call by the umps. Saltalamacchia clearly swung at that pitch. Good thing it didn't come back to bite us.

(81-53) Five runs against Beckett, but Hughes and Logan collapse under pressure to give the Sox a win. Now back a game and a half again. Burnett against Lester for the rubber match. Well at least it's not August with AJ on the hill. This could be the turning point of the season to determine the A.L. East winner.

(82-53) Wonders will never cease. Maybe this is the turning point. Two of three in Bean Town considering our head-to-head record this year. Jays and Orioles are next. This may turn out to be a real dogfight for the A.L East.

(86-53) Finally got my electric service back on after 8 days and 30 minutes of blackout. Yanks are on fire with a great streak and 2.5 ahead in first place. Montero had a hell of a debut with two blasts. Here's hoping the streak continues.
