Yeah it is tough, but remember 09 we started off horrible. Though the Yanks are tied with the Sux as the worst record in the AL East there is such parity that we are only 5.5 games back, a hot streak and you make that right up.

(23-21) The headline of Power, Patience, & Pitching sums up the game last night. A couple of long balls sealed the deal with Pettitte going a solid 7 frames and fanning eight. Time to turn it on for the Angels and A's.

(24-21) Good start after a day off. Nova with win #5 and some long balls helped to secure the victory. Hopefully we can make up some ground on this west coast swing. Sabathia vs.Colon today.

(26-22) after sweeping the Athletics, we lose to a walk off homer in the ninth inning. There is only a 4.5 game spread between first place and last in the AL East.

(26-23) Pettitte loses his first game on the road giving up 5 runs in 7 frames. Bad stats regarding RISP and LOB. Angels are poised to sweep.

(27-23) Nova goes 6 and 2/3 to get win # 6. A couple of homers and a sac fly seals the deal to prevent the sweep. Yankess are one and a half games out of first. Now on to Motor City.

(28-23) CC gets his 7th win courtesy of some long balls and good defense. He struggled a little here and there, but still went 7 frames. Only 1.5 games out of first in the AL East.

(30-24) A shutout for the Bombers with Pettitte going 7 and a 1/3 and 10 K's. Martin got his groove back with a Grand Slam. Now a half game out of first place.

(32-25) I thought that the score would be closer considering the starting pitchers. Kuroda was masterful on the mound last night and too many long balls off of Santana sealed the deal. Hughes vs. Gee tonight.

(33-25) A close game last night. Hughes and Gee battled it out, but it was Teixeira who broke the tie and Granderson put the icing on the cake. Pettitte vs. Niese today. Yankees are still having trouble getting runs across when the bases are loaded.
