Quest 2 Backdating?

I've got a Quest 2 with the latest firmware (3.10) and recently purchased the 2011 Euro Navigator for an upcoming trip to Norway. Ever since the firmware upgrade to 2.70 the memory allocation for additional maps has been reduced from 140 MB to about 35 MB. That's enough space for one city and surroundings. Basically after we pick up the bikes in Frankfurt I'll be able ride for a couple hours and then have to load up another set of maps from the laptop.

It would be nice to backdate the firmware to 2.60, go to the V7 North America and reclaim my 140 MB. I don't suppose anyone has tried this?

Please don't tell me it is time to get out of the dark ages and get a modern GPS, I really like my Quest.
