Hi Ned, Sorry to see your bike going, to bad the insurance company did not offer you a better deal.
On a brighter note, We have an Expedition body on hand now if you are still thinking about going with one.

BUGGER Not good news there Ned. That was one great looking outfit you had there .
I bet the dog is missing his rides .
Our dog still sits in the sidecar or on the bike seat for hours on end .

All the best

Really bad news Ned. It was really fun meeting you and WUMPA at Hell's Canyon a couple of years ago. Reading your RRs also kept me up way too late for many a night.

Here's hoping you put together a new setup and keep those fascinating stories coming. Best of luck friend.

You have to keep doing the sidecar thing, you just gotta. Your thread was one of the main ones that got me into this, and it would be sad to see you permanently off the road three-wheeling it. I very, very much hope this isn't the end, just a tiny bump on the road. I'd hate to head up to the PNW and not have you there to show me more of the various forest trails...

At the very least, you'll keep motorcycling, right?

Gypsy, I can give you half an answer. I'm definitely selling my Guzzi and I'm definitely done with two wheeling.

One too many crashes.

Two wheeling? Okay is it fair to read into that in the way all of us here would like to?

How about his one, Drone...?

Even lower mileage...Mate it to your Tub....Got more grunt... genuine offroader...has none of those electronic gizmos most 1200 GS'es have! Needs a bigger fuel tank though.

http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=929530

cheers...

Come on those where neither fast or capable when compared to the KTM's, are way overpriced and mostly an excercise in reinforcing BMW consumers egos.Mileage isn't necessarily much of an issue if maintenance is done.
Maybe Jay the great would welcome a new project and give poor Ned a break with a KTM.

Oh, sure!! But a great deal with low mileage. These biggies are the only true off roaders BMW has, not the regular GS/GSA. KTM's are great too but too maintenance prone for me. Jay, Claude, B.Smith... all would be most eager to experiment with a subframe for this one. What I like about the HP2... very high clearance where one can build a robust subframe without losing too much clearance compared to the regular GS/GSAs.

Watch Deutschlands Berthold Hauser playin' footsie with the HP2.....

Picture Drone doing this with his sidecar...oh, yeah he'll have to have a kurvenstabilizator . Guaranteed!!

cheers....
