Was your missus out for a week when you did that? I only ask as that is the minimum it would take to get the smell of cured paint and old oil out of the kitchen, if at all.

My father pop riveted my mom's favorite stainless steel mixing bowl into the fender of his Karmann Ghia to replace the rusted out headlight bucket. It turned out to be an unwise choice.
