Fire's Creek Ride

Man-o-man am I tired!

Left out around 10:30 this morning.
Met a couple of guys at the Cowee Convenience Store and then rode over to pick up Bob.

From Bob's place we headed across TCENSOREDo Gap. The road was dusty and dry, but we all made great time getting to the top.
Our crew for the day..
Vince on an XR650L

John on another XR650L

Bob on his DR400

And of course I was on my KLR650.

I didn't get a lot of pictures as we were riding pretty fast and not stopping much.
I did coerce Vince into taking a picture at the creek crossing coming off of CENSORED Gap.

Here's John:

and then me:

At the end of TCENSOREDe Road ( I think) we were stopped by a fallen tree. A really BIG fallen tree!

We looked for alternate routes around it, but there was no way to go.
Finally, after a guy broke some small limbs out of the way, we managed to get our bikes UNDER the tree.

Right where my left side mirror is you can see the hole we came through.
That was ...interesting.

We stopped to top off the lesser bikes and then had a great ride over to FCENSOREDk.
The area didn't have as many people as I had expected and we had a great time riding the gravel and dirt roads.
I only have a couple of pictures here as we didn't stop much at all!

Great area to ride, for sure!

All in all, a fun time.

Probably hitting CCENSOREDrk next time out to explore a little.

Good Ride

Keener....I see your gettin the most out of the KLR.....Looks like another good ride. I rode thru that area while doin part of the Spring Fling a week ago. Lotsa stuff to ride in that area. Wish I had enough time to find it all.

I just wish I could remember how to find some of the stuff I've ridden with other people!
I have learned my lesson, though, and now pay attention more at the intersections.

I'm turning my KLR into a more dirt worthy ride.
So far, along with carb and air box mods, I've installed Cognent Dynamics Moab suspension, a TPI fork brace, Tusk barkbusters, and ProTaper bars.

Just ordered a set of Maxxis 6006 tires, 14 & 45tooth sprockets and new chain, and a Pro Circuit pipe.

After that I am getting a set of engine guards and Nerf bars.

Someone had to say it. Don't post road names. Deal's Gap is why.

I know this thread has been dead for a long time but I'd love some more info on this ride if anyone would be willing to PM me with any details and/or a group ride. I frequent the mountains near Bob's place pretty often so this caught my attention.
