Install finished. Madstad, 20" light tint with matching side plates. 6' , seat in high position. Test ride probably tomorrow. I'll report back on how adjustments go and overall riding improvements worked or didn't work.
I know I said this would be completed yesterday, but I had trouble locating the directions and parts list. Maybe I celebrated a little too much before I started the job. .....maybe not? you decide. lol.
I searched for quite some time and still could not locate them before finally deciding to wait until today to complete the project.


I was very relieved when I finally found them.


This entire process was painless due to the tight tolerance and well thought out engineering making it easy to assemble and fit to the bike. No bending, flexing or forcing required. Rock solid mounting points with upgraded front support bracket (the one that replaces the stock bracket known to break). Top grade hardware with proper screw lengths with proper locking hardware (nuts and washers). All rubber isolation pieces are also top grade and properly sized. No need for loc-tite, taps or dies. All brackets thick and well designed. All metal finish coatings are flawless. All drilling is tight tolerance and lines up perfectly.
Let's get started.

Step 1: Make it naked.


Step 2: Replace upgraded 'front support bracket' and assemble 'madstad brackets' to 'mounting plate'.


Step 3: Install 'side support plates' and 'front mounting plate assy' onto Tiger 800.



Step4: Attach 'windshield' and 'side plates'.


Step 5: Clean shields, push outside for pictures...........and to make the friendly HD neighbors just a little curious.

IMO....this makes it look badass! Give Triumph some credit here on such a nice motorcycle!

What are your riding impressions? Also, just curious. Why do you have two GPS's?

Will be riding tomorrow so until then. 2 gps's? I plan on doing some hiking away from the bike. It's another hobby for me. Great place to keep it when riding. Also, I like the larger display for traffic situations it's easier to see. I plan to use the smaller one when off road since it's lighter. It's also a second mounting location for a go-pro or phone.

Here's the Adventure on my 800 Roadie..



Did ~100 miles today with it. Much quieter and smoother than stock. I actually had to turn down my SENA headset! There's still some wind noise (haven't tried 'tweaking' it much, though), but a lot less booming and a cleaner flow of air that seems to hit my helmet and jacket vents in just the right spots. I can actually hear the motor now! So far, I'm very happy with it!

Explorer narrow version?

I've seen a couple members mention getting the narrow version of the Madstad Explorer...but don't see it as an option on Madstad's website order page...

Did you call direct? add an email or comment to the order form? extra fee for custom item?

I called Mark and talked to him first about the slim options. I ended up ordering the Explorer Slim Custom 20". No extra fees involved.

No problem. The "custom" part was so the stock hand guards would clear with the risers I installed. I really like the look of it too. If you plan to do rough roads, be sure to order the extra "popsicle stick" inner supports. They cut down on the vibration. If you're doing hard core off road Mark is in the process making an additional rear support as well.

Just rode to blockbuster wearing a baseball cap with bill facing forward. Got up to 60 and cap never came off. Could have never done that with the stock screen. Loving my Madstad.
