Pannus de grysanto
Writing in the 1920s about the upper reaches of the Seaton Charles Henderson says “In 1301 the Assize Rolls (No 118) record that one Adam Trota passing the Water of Seythyn, near Retcradek [Rosecraddock], met Alice, the daughter of Matilda of Miriefeld, carrying a pannus de grysanto, for the sake of which he drowned her in the river and escaped with her property.”

A beautiful old tressle in Alabama, near Indian mounds. If it can hold THIS bike, it's gotta be sturdy!

VMCC Ride In
![]() This month’s VMCC ride-in at Kit Hill was well attended given the icy weather. In the first photograph we see Monty modelling the All Blacks’ new riding ensemble. With his back to the camera Monty has kindly raised his helmet visor so that we can use it to draw a bead on the three dark shapes silhouetted against the silver streak in the middle distance. The three dark shapes are some flats in Plymouth and the silver streak is the River Tamar at Plymouth Sound. Somewhere on a straight line between Monty’s helmet and the flats is the Tamar Bridge. You can see it easy if you have any strength in your imagination. And don’t let me see anyone using a magnifying glass. Click for more

An interesting bridge near St. Petersburg, Russia. What do you think, can the middle part be lifted for big boats to pass underneath? Looked that way...
