If it happens again to you, give Master Reset a try. I don't think this issue has to do with the Route itself. I think it has to do with how the Montana is referencing the maps or Index.

there are trail numbers on the map that aren't visible on the montana. is it the resolution of the montana screen?
Check the Image (CustomMap) in BaseCamp. The image might have been reduced to meet pixel density restrictions. In which case you could brake up the image into smaller tiles and in Google Earth georef the tiles so you still keep the resolution you are after.

Cheers,
the image looks fine in basecamp. the image is only 500K but 300dpi. garmin says that images will be resized if greater than 1MB.

I use www.Dropbox.com. People that you want to share data with do not have to have an account to access it. You get a lot for free and they don't share your personal info.

I just opened them in BaseCamp and the image Resolution is 8MP. Reduce the image resolution to ≤ 1MP

Cheers,
by breaking the image into chunks I was actually able to piece together a trail map with satellite imagery behind it and the resolution is great. they all get packaged together into one kmz file. check it out.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/99840880/Li...st%20South.kmz

i'll have to test it riding to see how the draw rate is.

thanks for all the help.

I had exactly the same experience as you did only I use Winders7. I too was/am on a month long trip to ride the Trans Labrador Hwy, Labrador, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia. Did the same as you taking all the precautions noted throughout this thread. Got the same results. I ended up using the Where to, pick a waypoint, go method of routing because none of my routes created in Basecamp were usable.

WOW.....that's really cool looking!

I've read about others doing that but that is the first time I have seen the end result. Does it look the same on the Montana as it does in BaseCamp?

Guess I need to go back and read up on how you did that.

Nice job on adjusting your imagery and adding the sat background. I use BirdsEye Sat Imagery - it provides zoom layers like the maps.

If you're not moving to fast the map refresh rate should be OK.

Zoomed In on the Montana

Are you using the layered JPG's with CustomMaps? If so, please explain how! Last time I checked, CustomMaps will not function with layered JPG's.
