Finding the micro SD card?

Well after having had my 650t for about 4 days CNNA 2013 arrived and I installed it to my PC (Base Camp) and installed it to the Montana. It is on the mSD card and I can see it BUT I am unable to select this map, it does not appear as one of the choices when I go to the map or profiles pages. Any ideas?

How exactly did you send CN to your Montana? What is the name and size fot he file on the Montana? Do you know how many map segments are included in the file?

Used the right click method on the DEVICES, Internal Storage of BaseCamp with the 650 connected to the PC. When I right click on Memory Card nothing happens, no data files appear..

Confirming Montana Driver Installation

I've recently purchased a new Montana 650. When connecting to my Macbook pro for the first time I had a Garmin Icon come up on screen and when I opened it I could not do an "autorun" as it says I do not have an application to open it with. Yet I could open up files and read the manual etc. I'm not sure the Montana Driver Install was done or completed. I have tried tried entering the mass storage Mode to check on my files but not able to access it. In fact the screen on the Montana stays fixed with the Garmin logo and a usb connected icon. Unless I disconnect it stays fixed. Ya I know I'm a complete noobie here but would appreciate any advise or direction. TKs.

It's working as designed. Firstly, when you connect the Montana to your Mac (or PC which is what the autorun file is for) it goes into Mass Storage (USB) Mode indicated by the USB symbol on the Montana display. You can not operate the Montana while it is in USB mode. You can use Finder to manage the files on the unit.

Read the Manual and then you might want to look over my "annotated" manual and atlas cache's wiki and the Montana Wisdom page here.

Cheers,

Begining to get frustrated. Formatted the uSD card, still cannot see CNNA on the GPS. Have downloaded and installed JaVaWa and it shows the uSD card needing formatting. ?

Thanks DRTBYK, good to know its working as designed and now I understand what the autorun is for. Will check up finder for files. I know hard to believe but I did read the manuals. Will spend some more time on the other sites as well. Tks

What are you formatting the uSD card to (FAT, FAT32, NTFS), and do other maps on the uSD card show up in the Map Selection Menu?

Bruce, your µSD Card should be formatted to FAT32. Once you've done that, try sending just one map segment to the card (should be fast) to test it. Also send one map segment to internal storage just to make sure you don't have something else going on.

Cheers,

Options for formatting on my PC are exFAT and NTFS. Also it is a 64GB SanDisk. Is 64 gb OK?, Garmin says 32GB

Yes, 64GB uSD cards have been successfully used by others.

exFAT is likely the problem, as it is not the same as FAT32, which is required.

This will help you get that done. ;-)
