Garmin Download Problems
Guys,
Here in the UK I get the download problem all the time, Garmin notify me by e mail that a new version is available, I try to download it and get sent to some Garmin shop to buy an SD card! I e mailed support and they say they are looking in to it. Like the other guys I opened up 'mapinstall' and it offered the update any way. |

The upgrade to 4.0.3 just worked for me with FF.

I had the same problem with FF.
Funny thing is before clicking on the DL link it pointed to the .exe file. But when I clicked on it there was a brief flash before sending me to the SD card page......strange. I had already upgraded by letting map install download it but it is strange that I got redirected when trying to DL from Garmin's DL page. Jon...

The Garmin built-in auto-detect upgrade worked like a charm. Also verified the self-serve download link you provided above worked as expected. |

That download link has been up and down all day. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Bizarre.

The same thing happened with with the last official BaseCamp release as well... others mentioned it on the Garmin Forums and I witnessed it myself. Not sure what's going on over there.

I was able to download MapInstall and Base Camp this afternoon. My Montana is supposed to arrive tomorrow, which doesn't leave me much time to get it figured out and loaded up before Saturday's ride. Thanks to you guys, I have a couple of solid maps and a few .gpx files already. Hopefully, I'll get it figured out quickly.

Hi again to you all
Currently in Thailand heading to Laos with a Nuvi :( The Montana broke its screen in China if you recall and I have been without a SatNav until I got to Thailand where I scored a loan of this and a full set of SEA maps Anyway, on the Montana front. As I did not want to send it back for repair from China I waited and packed it away. I contacted a Garmin rep in Bangkok who told me, after discussing it with a tech, that the Montana range cannot be repaired by the Taiwan branch, only Europe or US can do this model :( I called the Europe branch and was told that the screen is NOT covered under warranty. :( My response to this was that the screen is cracked in the upper left corner(in portrait mode) and this is due entirely because I had to do a master reset up to 3 times a day for weeks if not months since the unit was replaced in June. This is a Garmin recommended procedure and thus it is the fault of your unit that the screen ended up broke. It is hard to know how hard to press when resetting and with gloves on there is no feeling anyway The upshot is positive, I have now sent the unit express and they will now cover it under warranty. I would have paid for a new screen myself just to get it sorted out but nobody can do it over here With a bit if luck I might get it back before the end of the world :) Cheers TravellingStrom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Cheers TravellingStrom

Hey TravellingStrom good to hear from you.
The Montana sure has been a nightmare for you. Good to hear they will fix the screen for you at no charge. Ride safe, Jon...
