Just got to Antigua and have been able to locate the right side Engine Cover that the Crash bars attach to in the US, talked to MAX BMW about getting them shipped to me via Frank resource.... will only take a few days to get them

Looks like if the part cannot be repair in Guatemala I can get a new one shipped in fairly quickly

In the mean time, will be in spanish school and exploring the area while I am waiting. All well on the adventure!!

Mark, if you didn't have the engine guard(s) on there, do you think the damage would have been as bad?

From the looks of the picture, it looks like the bike deflected off the rock by hitting the bar. If the bar was not there it might have hit the side cover, removing it from the bike and maybe parts that are underneath the cover .

so even though some damage was caused, I bet it would have been far worse without the crash bars.

Mark, sorry for your accident and I'm glad you're ok.

Perhaps dwelling on this accident too much is bad for you?

I have a solution

I'm sure there are beautiful, natural phenomena that have crossed your path in Guatemala.

Maybe a picture or two - just to take your mind off your spill. Just trying to be helpful.

I didn't mean for you to ask him how long they'll last. That would be...uh...goofy. Maybe where to get them though.

I thought he never changed them

I have a rear tire to install somewhere in the next 500-100 miles that will last through South America. I damaged my front tire so I will buy on here in Guatemala city. Probably will go with TKC80 on the front .....Still want to have knobbie tires on the bike.

Radioman,

Just because the two laying on the beach have knobbys doesn't mean you have to have them on your bike.

One does look to have had a pair bolted on, wow! Emerson bigones.

Mark;
Good to see you are in good spirits. Glad it wasn't worse for you or the bike.
I hear they have beaches there? Yes, we boys are easily distracted. But to be fair, Idea Wife told me to check on Mark so credit for the referral goes to her.
Bon chance amigo.
