With trip reports like this, and the Dakar rally getting ready to start, ADV rider is the place to be.

Mark glad to see you got to Boca okay. Things have returned to normal here in San Jose now that Xmas is over. Was good meeting you and hope I was of some help with your travels.

Good luck.
Ride safe.
Stay healthy.

Oh well. As I have gotten older, life is short and this felt like the right place to spend a few extra dollars!!

With those great pics Butterfly Island looks like a little piece of Heaven down here.

Another travel ? for you Mark. Do you ever wish you had a little tow behind trailer to haul everything on instead of having all the weight on your bike?
I'm making one for my Versys and I see + and - with either way. On certain trips it would be nice to get to camp, unhook trailer with camping stuff on it and be able to ride just the bike if I were staying in the area a few days. But in your situation of going in and out of countries, towns and traffic I could see it being more of a pain.

Have a Happy and safe riding New Year to You , rj

Yup Mark, sometimes you just gotta splurge it is sooooo worth it; isn't it? I am glad you made it now it's getting the Darien crossed. Loved the little exotic butterfly tour.

This looks like a really nice place.

Well, you did get the tire off finally and you'd seemed pretty dang happy about that.

Safe travels..

Hi Mark,

You're doing great! What a report...Looks like a new adventure coming up in Colombia when you're reunited with your bike.

Good luck and safe riding.

Mark, going to see any of the Dakar while your down there?
Of course you would probably have problems finding lodging if you go near the event.

Probably will not be down far enough to see the race in time. Oh well.....

Crossing the Darien

Is there a way to ship across the Darien via a boat that you can also ride on as a passenger? With as many of us as there are going down there on our bikes one would think someone could make a good business of it without the worries of piracy and bad acting.
