True.

When my wife & I went to Mexico a few years back....that was one of the biggest hang-ups for us.

that and the differences in currency.

I'm reading the book by David Barr about his ride across Africa.....WOW, talk about language differences!!!!

Have you seen that new VW (diesel jetta) commercial where they load the "how to speak Spanish" CD and drive 12 hours to Mexico?
rip the CD to mp3's and play it in your helmet as you ride

Tried that but was too hard to hear the subtle tones ..... Just did not work for me. Hoping to do some more Language school along the way.

We are in San Augustin Looking at the Archaeological ruins. Very slow internet. Will try to post up things in a couple days.

Seat

Hi Mark. Smilin Jack mentioned your seat yesterday while drinking some coffee during our ride to the coast. He said you had it done by Don in Albany. Mr Eds Moto. How is it doing for you? I have one on my DR and its about the best thing I've done to my bike.

Hope all is well. Enjoy your reports. Thanks - Be safe.

Frank

Mark is being modest, he is quite the seat maker himself! Literally saved my ass in Baja!

I have a seat for my DR650 from him and before getting it, my ass would just killl me in about 50 miles or so. With it, I can go all day, all week. I think its a must for any bike if you have plans on going more than 25 miles a day. It really does work like a good fitting boot. He also backs what he makes which is odd these days it seems. He's quite the character as well. Thanks - be safe.

February 9 & 10 Tatacoa Desert, Colombia

We had to ride through Bogota on our way south. Lots of traffic, missing manhole covers

Lots of Moto shops all over Colombia as it is a major transport for so many. Always cool stuff to look at.

Bogota is over 7,500 feet and as we road south we climbed higher into the clouds. was a chilly 50 degrees.

Had some great views

and some twisty.

and a large rock overhang. Take a deep breath...

Have seem so many crazy things being carried on motorcycles. Here are two guys with their weedeaters

After about 6 hours riding we arrived at the Tatacoa desert north of Neiva. It is a small arid desert surrounded by the northern Andes. it is a cool little stop on our way south.

Interesting geology to check out.

We had a guide showing us around.

There was a natural spring that you could swim in.

James always trying to capture just the right photo

Sunsetting over the desert.

Goofing around.

Just enjoying the moments.

There is an observatory on here. There was a bus load of kids from Bogota getting a lesson in the stars.

On our walk back to the cabana we were staying at, Cows in the road. James taking this photo.

The next morning .... Got some photos..... Welcome to my office today

Really like this shot. thanks James.

Enjoyed our day checking out the tiny desert area. Colombia has some really diverse terrain.

February 11 & 12 San Agustin, Colombia

As we road back to Neiva through the small town in the desert Villaveija. There was several women sweeping their street to keep it neat and tidy. Pride in their neighborhood and in their country. Great to see!

Riding through Neiva, these big bikes create a stir. the girls behind James were having a good laugh at all our gear.

we road 170 Miles to San Agustin which is an archeological site. Riding the valley with a large river in the middle.

These dogs were curled up in the heat ....taking nap!

All the small towns have a main square and big catholic church.

Back up into the mountains and cooler temps!!

Found a great Italian restaurant right near where we were staying. Two gusy from Verona Italy that now live here. Yummy Tiramisu

Next day visited archeological. Lots of carved stone for the burial grounds.

Met a Colombian guide. Great to talk with!

Sharing his passion for this place.

Old burial grounds.

Hours of checking the place out. Needed a cold drink and to relax!

Had a great visit to this region! Waterfalls and the hills were great. Just hard to capture in photos

Hey Mark...nothing against James but are you missing riding alone at all? You two seem like good riding buddies in any case.
