Kinda a funny story. Rick went to Europe to play at the end of his career.
Big difference between Europe and Canada/US hockey is...over here you don't stick anyone, you use your fists. Europe, they don't use their fists, the smack at each other with their sticks. So Rick is playing a game in Germany an some guy comes along and smacks him in the face with his stick. So Rick chases the guy down drops his gloves and beats tha crap out of the guy.

AT 4am in the morning there is a knock on Rick's hotel door. Half a dozen German police replete with sub machine guns. They made him pack his bags get his passport and escorted to the ariport...never to darken European Hocky's door again.

Dunno, know he picked up a Ring of two with Edmonton , then was traded to the Kings. Evenutally blew a groin and never quite recoverd from that.
Still hangs out with some of the old greats from time to time.
Came by the house for dinner a few year ago with his friend Bobby. Nice to meet you Bobby were you a player too?.

Yeah...I figured out later it was Bobby Hull. doh!

Yeah I have that conversation with my bro-in-law. It never made sense to me to give the other team a power play. Checks , hip check fore checks , drive the guy into the boards... good stuff - rough enough.

Figured if I was a owner I would scout out a player with a good mouth. Give him a bonus every time he got someone from the other side to hit and give my team a power play.

hard checks rule. I love seeing well matched opponents get right down in the trenches and play hard. but stopping play to do a half time show of fists gets tiresome

Config, I heard on the news tonight that there may be a last ditch effort to save the thing...you heard anything to that effect?

Mario and Wayne were involved. Mike Ricci was in San Jose talking about a possible
settlement.

How lame is that? Wait...cancelled....nope.

What I heard was that the union had give in on everything for about a 45m cap....teams might play a mostly east vs. east and west vs. west remaining schedule (to defray costs) and then the proverbial all inclusive play-off scheme...I don't recall if it was a plan or just some sports jocks rambling on.

I don't think many are going to miss it...hey the Daytona 500 is right around the corner!

It will be interesting to see how many of the NHL veterans are going to quit. Or go and play in russia. They get paid almost more there than in NHL. I´ve been lucky to be able to go watch some good hockey games. There is a bunch of NHL players playing in the Finish league.
