Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Nice pics. I've gotta get my XT running.

it's not what I wanted (unobtanium atm) but I am really impressed; and I am glad I didn't go for a 50/50 instead - came in really handy at my little excursion

plus, I made some really good time on Walnut Creek and Big Laurel today....

new day, new ride

since Carmen "left" I only got guys to ride with now - but, oh well, I shouldn't complain

however, some of them may be to tall for my bike

rode Hurricane Creek - sorry, no stops and no pics - and afterwards we lost Allen. Last time we've seen him was him taking off against the traffic on I40 (he's fine - I got a text later on)

at some other road west of I40:

it was dry and all the creeks were very low, which made it very easy

my hubby:

Blinker152

Rush-hour on the Pigeon River - so much for tranquility on the water

did I say it was dry? that was my view for most of the day

which resulted in this (thanks guys! )

Lunch Break:

Buck Branch (?)

my "pig" all grown up

somewhere at Martha Sundquist Forest

just when I got into the groove , following the guys up a long and fun gravel road, my bike decided it's to old for this stuff and decided to take a nap

and that concludes the story

well, actually it was just one of the last of the pics I took; bikes fine and I am too. Just low-sided coming out of a turn - I blame my right hand (I told it "be easy on the gas" )

Thanks a lot to Blinker152 for leading a fantastic ride!!!!

if your boss tells you to reduce your comp time, what better thing is there to do than goof off, and stock up on some future file tags for NCTOR and the E-TN tag game

some of the non-tag shots

can anybody explain this building to me????

went to check out some trail-heads and campsites in the Shelton Laurel Backcounty

came by some "famous driveway"

explored some more gravel in this area, just to find out that I am lost... (pics didn't come out right - bummer)

after about 5 hours I decided it's time to switch to 3 HP (hound power) and added another 5+ miles on the AT

Flint Mt. Shelter

the day turned out quiet nicely - and in the meantime my hubby was very busy

That's Lester McGillicuddy's old place. He was a county judge back in the early '70's. If you take the little road around and under, you can see where he used to hang 'baccer underneath. That lower room sticking out the back is where he kept the still. Right above it, that back porch looking thing, is where he ran a poker table. The main floor towards the front was a honkey tonk, mountain dancing and music making, drinking, all purpose kind of an establishment with a guard at the front door. Secret password required for entry. Up above, in the attic area, was where he housed the 'ladies of ill repute', sometimes transferred from the jail in Marshall where they had been arrested, and incarcerated in this place to work off their sentence. Quite the lucrative business for ol' Lester. And that front porch up high- there was always at least one guy posted up there with a scatter gun. Just in case...

All made up, of course. But I've often stopped there and wondered myself.

I pass you sometimes, sometimes alone and sometimes with your crew, always going the other way. Maybe someday we'll all be going the same way and you all will let me tag along.

Great thread, nice to see the same things through another's eyes.
