Hi guys,
I saw your post by complete coincidence. I'd be interested in joining your next informal meeting, just for fun. I am in Ottawa.

I also went to Moab in 2011, and loved it so much I am going again in 2012 for a hard enduro ride. I might have some gps files and experiences to share. Anyhow, if you don't mind greeting another like-minded adventurer around a beer sometimes, let me know!! Winter's kinda long this year

ps: my group is already built. just looking to share good stories!!

If I had to pick it would be September but any time between March and November here (Vancouver area) and often all year round. Later in the year the higher elevations (and we have lots) open more and more.

I wasn't planning on anything else for this ride. But the bike has about 30 hours so I'm open to suggestions.
I have the 13 litre tank on the 525exc, do I need to mount up the Rotopax or will 13 litres be sufficient?

We did a 300+ km day with my 450 and a 530 (both EXC's with 13 liter tanks) including Long Canyon, White Rim, and Shafer Trail. The rest of the trips were 100 km or so loops from town. Fuel mileage may differ but shouldn't present any hardships. Our trip to Moab was a straight-through marathon (26 hours) and same back home sharing shifts at the helm. Great time of year to travel and Moab was real pleasant weather. By the look of it things get pretty warm there later in the season.

... 300Km... I guess we'll do the same kind of ride...I'll take my rotopaxs with me (4 gallons would allow 80-110 more Km)

Ok then, how about the weekend of the Feb 24/25, this way everyone has a few weeks to eye this up... Besides, its my birthday that weekend and you can buy my beer... Where to meet will follow. We can try to get all the Ottawa riders to "maybe" get Deadly/Ted to show and tell his story from Dakar Rally....

I would think those bikes are just as bad/good on gas as the 690 so after 13L at 300km's you guys rolled in to gas on fumes... I get 200k on 10 Liters...or so.
