Sorry to hear that..... I know how you feel.. I lost my memory when I crashed and broke my shoulder, thumb and jaw...

On the bike:
Mainly the front area... front wheel, odo, lights, windshield, handlebar...all the other area look perfect.
Damaged are very local, but I did a quick check on MaXBmw website and the price looks to be 4000$, parts only

me: first verterbra cracked, brain roughly shacked (optic issue, but better every day)
My helmet was brand new... I'm going to buy another new one !

I'm glad you can talk about it..... I'm sure running out of gas was not an issue

THis day was not a trouble, but we needed to be able to ride 700km 2 days after
When riden off road, my GS need 8 liters each 100km.
That's why I was able to carry 60 liters (750Km)
By the way, this day, I remember I tried to be more efficient... sit on the saddle as long as possible and riding in 5th or 6th gear...
I'm pretty sure that's the reason why I had the accident !
Usually, in this kind of area, I'm alway up and in 3rd or 4th gear
I'm sure that's the reason !

Ah, too bad, trip cut short.

Did you get into thick gravel and get the front wobbling? Or something else maybe?

I don't know... I don't remember!
the front wheel is a 21", I usaully don't have the trouble you are describing, especially since I put Olhin shocks
Friends tolds me I went in a very soft and deep area on the road... that's where I start rolling on the ground with the bike
I swear it's the first and the last time I ride off road being sat to try to save gas !

To be true, I don't really want to have this bike fixed.
1150GS is a excellent model and mine was very powerfull... but I baught the wrong bike for what I want to do.
I'd love to ride a 950SE or ADV, but still, I know it's too big for what I want to do and to big to have riding time with my wife (she own a 650GS)
I try to think a 650Dakar (with some inprovments) could be the best choice... confortable enough to ride 500km on asphalt and good enough to ride few days in the muddy wood

Those gravel roads look easy when you see pictures on a ride report but in real life they can be tricky, especially a big pile left after the grader has gone by. I scared myself many times up there with my GS.

Scott's damper and it's a world of difference ... for me anyways.

A friend around the corner from me has a 650 Dakar he probably wants to sell
