Hey Bill
that's about as close as she ever gets to a bath.I'm all for going back down but don't we need to be checking things out north an a little east of there? Then again both is always a good answer. Some time after the 4th?

I have been watching your thread here for a while. I got the joy of riding up in that area last week. Dan Dickie lead a ride for the roadrunner rally out of Maggie valley. We stayed on well maintained roads but he pointed out a couple roads that look to be very fun. I will be heading back up there in the future to explore roads like hurricane creek that he pointed out. I am sure I will post here in hopes of meeting up with a local tour guide.

yup! a bit less slick would have been the ticket (especially on the big rock). My pruny hands are gone now, and the hot shower afterward certainly felt great...

Funny you mention Tabor. He's one of the most interesting riders I've come across in a long time.
We rode FS81 (nice gravel) that parallels the skyway on Sat. Coming back towards Robbinsville Sat afternoon I hit 75mph in one straight and was full drift through every corner (on full knobbies). I see a headlight approaching from behind and slowly but surely gaining on me. I'm WOT at every opportunity but they are still slowly but surely gaining. I think "oh, Lost Marbles was behind me, must be him" since he was the only one behind me on full knobbies that I know is quite a bit faster than me. By the time we hit the pavement he'd caught up and was right behind. I pull over to wait for everyone and it's Tabor with his Anakee front KLR. WTF ![]() Don't ever count him out. He'll take that street tired KLR into places small dual sports fear to tread. It ain't natural, I'm tellin you ![]() And those berms are great, one of my favorite roads (if you're talking about the Mile High backdoor). Hate I missed it. Got my disappearing oil figured out though, and glad I didn't continue. New crush washer on the way and I'll be back in business. Y'all be good, or be good at it

I know a sandbagger when I hear one
I don't claim to be fast, especially when piloting the Exxon Valdez of dual sports But if my KLR pig'll get airborne on that road then a DRZ-E will need a parachute
