FYI - Alcan Rider may be slightly Geezerly, but I have eaten many meals with him and he doesn't suck. Despite his chronological seniority, he still has all of his teeth and is able to chew his food. Luckily he doesn't need straws to suck up the fudge and pies he has a voracious appetite for!

I'm not coming to his defense solely because he has incriminating photos to threaten me with to be on my best behavior, but that's one incentive. If you ever ride with him - beware of his propensity to catch "candid camera" shots of people he's with! And, he has a really fancy camera with extra lenses, so he can zoom in from a distance, even when you think you're safe making goofy faces.

Hope you're all having a happy winter. Skiing up here has been pretty fantastic! Riding season is only, hmmm..... months away....

PowerT, you have some great shots! They remind me so much of my years in Anchorage. Thanks!
Are you referring to the time you were cruising around in your Gremlin X or the trash run out behind the airport?

Speaking of offroading. How about the time I went offroading on my KZ900 at 60 mph when I didn't make the curve around the airport? Luckily I got it whoaed down to 60 before leaving the pavement.

Winter skiing!

Since I can't ride motorcycles in the winter, I engage in my favorite wintertime passion of skiing in the backcountry, as often as possible. Sometimes I even play hookey from work so I can enjoy fresh powder! Last weekend we skied down into Ship Creek Valley, which is accessed from the Arctic Valley Road, just a few miles outside of Anchorage. There's a lot of deep powder, which is physically draining to break trail through, but I love a good challenge! Luckily on this trip I was sneaky and left the trailhead about an hour after a group of my guy friends left, allowing them to have the privilege of breaking trail for us women.

The wind was blowing the snow off of the tops of the peaks and ridges.

Ahhh.... on days like this I feel like I have died and gone to heaven and I sure hate having to return to civilization.

A link to a few more photos...

We've had some record snowfall this year, and I'm sure looking forward to some spectacular spring skiing, up until I can ride again!

From my point of view, you already reside in Heaven.

I'll be up this summer for my little slice of heaven, too.

Knowing Jim (frijole) that could be what he is saying. But, you can barely make out his camera in his right hand.
