I have no doubt the SMR would handle the gravel and if I am just touring I don't mind riding in it....however chasing KTM Mike through the gravel means a much more spirited pace and in the gravel I would never be using near the potential of the KTM. The KLR I would probably use all the power and I would have a blast....besides replacement part on a KLR are easier and much cheaper to get..lol

I was fooked at that point, but I kept thinking I could work it loose. In hindsight, I should have just put it on the milling machine and cut that beotch off. I wouldn't have damaged the threads so much. I really think I could try another one, but it irritates me that I have to drop another 150 for the privilege. The ring adjusters thread over the damaged area just fine, and I think there are enough threads on the preload adjuster that it would just straddle the damaged area. Why couldn't it have been one of my other bikes that have $50 shocks? Dayum ...
Well, I sent my pics to KTM-parts.com ( Appalachian Offroad MC ) and asked if they'd give me a break on a new adjuster, or maybe cover the shipping, if I ordered another adjuster from them. I specifically said that I was NOT asking for a warranty replacement, since I had no idea what had happened.

This is the email I got back from customer service at KTM-parts.com ( Appalachian Offroad MC ):

Hello Craig,
I emailed your case to KTM, and this is the reply I got.

"We have not had any issues with the pre load adjusters. But seeing that he took care of fixing his shock threads we will send you a new pre load adjuster for the customer at no charge. Can you make sure that he was adjusting the preload with the rear wheel in the air so that there is no extra stress on the adjuster."

So as soon as we receive it from them, we'll ship it out to you. Thanks,
Rod C.

So, I got an email today that my new adjuster is shipped and I should have it this weekend. Gotta say, I've never had a company help me like this before, and KTM's generosity made a bad situation a little less painful. Kudos to KTM and ktm-parts.com
KTM ftw !

Great news about the adjuster!

I just had a similar experience with Rally Raid products. One of their tanks I bought for my 690 enduro developed a small leak and they shipped me out a replacement from the UK right away.

It is really nice to get that kind of service!

KTM's customer support has been nothing but spectacular for me. Which is the complete opposite of what I've experienced with other manufacturers.

Glad to hear they set you up.

That's been my experience too in the past 30+ years, I was pleasantly surprised this time around.

Hi guys I thought I would share some pics of my ride last week. I have been loving this winter where I live it has been perfect for riding. The place in the pic is next to one of my favorite roads called Power House road.

I installed the small windscreen last week and have to say it does make a difference. It helps even while I'm sitting up, but it's easy to tuck down on the highway. I did a couple hundred miles yesterday, 2-lane and Interstate; I can feel the wind blast going right over my helmut - smooth and quiet. I don't think it looks too bad either, just my .02

I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes for me only because it was already installed on my bike when i bought it but i can say that the wind dose not beat me up at all even on 200+ mile rides.
