When I was buying my bike, the dealer told me I could get the other seat for 100 bones. That might have been their cost, I dunno? Originally I thought I wanted both seats, but after spending an extra afternoon on the demo bike, I decided I'd live with the R seat alone.

I bought mine used from New York (I'm in SoCal), but I called my local dealership to ask about a seat. I was quoted 199 for a stock R seat. I guess I'll look around the internet, too. Maybe I can score a deal.

The bike arrived today, and I'm pretty stoked! One quick ride around the block is all I got, but that'll change tomorrow. It's filthy and I need to set the suspension up, but I think I'm really going to dig this bike. It definitely has the KTM "Ergo" seat, and it's just not for me. If I can't sell it or trade it, maybe I'll keep it around for 2-up.

One last thing. There is a square pad with an orange button next to my left grip. Doesn't seem to do anything, what am I missing here?

Congrats on the bike - yes you will like it very much. I have a black plastic piece on the right grip, just underneath the kill switch. Looks like a switch could maybe go there, but nothing is there now. Nothing on the left grip except, pass2flash, hi/low switch, turn sigs and horn (I think - too tired to walk out to the barn and check).

Maybe that's a switch for accessory lights, or the "vibra seat". I def don't have that on mine :(

IF
you follow these simple directions:

1. THE NEXT TIME YOU NEED PARTS, call Tracey's in Pennsylvania at 1 800 860 0686.

2. Speak only to the parts manager Steve Dumek the first time.

3. Tell him KTM Mike sent you.

4. He will set up an account for you.

5. Any time you call there after that, no matter who answers the phone, give them your last name and YOUR DISCOUNT will already be in the computer.

6. You MUST have all your part numbers ready to read to them. Do not make them look up any parts numbers for you.
Look the numbers up in your own parts book, or look up the numbers on their website or someplace,
and write them down in a list so you can rattle them off quickly and don't waste their time.

7. Do not order anything that you are not 100% sure you want, because
they have a stiff return policy in exchange for LOWER PRICES.

8. Print this out so you don't forget & screw it up.

9. This only works by phone as far as I know. I assume that if you order online, you will get the online price which is higher.

(There are some places like www.partspitstop.com
that list prices lower than are LISTED on Tracey's www.worldofcycles.com ,
but the price that Tracey's will CHARGE you is lower than BOTH if you always follow the above)

Thank, guys! I appreciate it. Any help I can get! First KTM, so I'm kind of a fish out of water.

So, I've spent all morning looking for a stock seat. The best I've heard is that they're back ordered until August 1. So, if you guys know of anyone selling one or that wants to trade for my ergo seat, PLEASE let me know.

Hi there!

Got my 1st KTM for 2 years now and I couldn't be happier with her. It's a 2010 supermoto R. She's fast, she's sexy, she's the most exciting bike I've ever ride (and I've ridden a lot); the beauty and the beast, all in one bike!

Congrats for this interesting smr corner, where I hope I can add some expertise and take all the advises I'm capable of.

My first question has to be with reversing the gearshift. I'm a RR rider as well and I'd like to reverse the shifter, but I can't do it only in one bike, as I know that sooner or later I will be wrong in one or another, and don't like frights when riding...

Does anyone know how to get that?

Thanks!

Reversing the gearshift?
The shifter is mounted directly onto the shaft.
What point would you use for a second pivot?

Sounds messy.
If that were my dilemma, I'd be putting the RR shift pattern back to stock.
If you figure out a way to do it, show us a picture.

Please help me find a stock seat!!

You could post a "Seat Wanted" on the "Flea Market" thread under parts.
Lots of people have the Ergo seats, so there MUST be stock seats sitting around somewhere.
What did the original owner do with his stock seat? Maybe you should call him?

Yes, reversing the gearshift
I'm not a mechanic, so I don't have a clue about how difficult (or maybe impossible) it would/could be (that is the main reason I'm asking here ).
I haven't reversed anything yet. As I've said, I want to have both bikes fitted the same way, so I don't have to think about every time I take one or the other, how the gears go.
I do a lot of track days, so higher footpegs, reversed shifting would help a lot, as well as the semi-automatic shifter, does anyone know where to get/buy any of this?

Reverse shifter

Look in the street hard parts catalog they have a reverse shifter kit for for a Super Duke also six way adjustable foot pegs with the brake and shift levers. Knowing KTM and the similarities to these models I bet these could be made to work without too much trouble.

Honestly, I've already seen that, and it's not working for the SMR

SMR has neither adjustable foot pegs, but after a bit of research I found a mate who has already made a mod for that with a couple of metallic pieces; kinda craftsman artwork, but it'll do the job.
