Another in the series of Frank's "Adopt-a-Bike" program! We all wonder when this particular ride will find a permanent home...

I lost a good friend this weekend. Benny Davidson. He was only 49 years old. Saturday evening, around dinner time, he just upped and died. They also say that it was not a heart attack - they say that his heart simply stopped beating. I'm not a cartiologist, but how the hell can that NOT be a heat attack? He was an active, happy man with a wife and kids. Looked to me that he was healthy and fit too.

Anyway - it's been a sad week. He was one of my closest friends at work.

RIP Benny. I'll miss you big guy.

Damn!

Sorry for you loss Pete. We all hate to hear of something like that.

I just lost a friend to Pancreatic cancer. Healthy man all his life. Non smoker, runner, lean and mean. Started feel bad and 6 months later he was gone. He knew it was coming. Not the way I want to go.

Sorry for the morbid post. Godspeed to your friend.

I try to enjoy every day I have left...

Thanks for the kind words, Vic. At first - I thought it was a bad joke.
But it wasn't. I can't believe how bummed out I feel. It just sucks mang. It doesn't seem right. I went over to his desk yesterday and of course he wasn't there. It kind of set in at that moment. I had to go out of the building for a little while just to clear my head.

Aw, come on now Pete. You know you want it.

Actually, I'm hoping this one is a real keeper. I did about a 70 mile loop yesterday afternoon. Is it as good on the road as the ST1100? Not quite. But on the way home I did a 10 mile dirt road stretch that I never would have attempted on the ST. Since every bike is a compromise of some sort and I really do enjoy exploring dirt roads and out of the way places, the GS just might do the trick.

Stay tuned and let's find out.

Sorry for your loss buddy. I've had two great friends (both colleagues and teammates from my LEO days) have serious health scares in the last little bit. On, only a year older than me, had a stroke, and another, a year younger, was admitted just this morning w/ cardiac problems and is scheduled to have a pacemaker installed tomorrow.

At our house we will offer a prayer of comfort for the Davidson family.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Pete. Life is so short and so uncertain that I myself feel like I'm living on borrowed time, and wonder when the hammer's gonna fall. Earlier this year I got the news that the fella who was my youth pastor back in the 80's passed away from a heart attack. He was only 10 years older than me and had served as a pastor his entire adult life; clean-living, nonsmoker, active outdoorsman, and dead of a heart attack at 50. The lesson? Enjoy every sandwich, as Warren Zevon said. Every day is a Gift.

Rest in Peace, Benny.

Same thing happened to my best friend, Steve Lenac, last September. Only differenece was that he fainted and fell down twice within the day of the final collapse. No pain or anything. Sounds like a good way to go. Still think of him often.........

Who needs a stinking tow plane?

Yup - Agreed.

I am anxious to get my new 10 x 20 portable bldg installed this Tuesday. A - that in itself is neat-o and B - I get to take Tuesday off to "supervise"!

Pop and a friend are thinking about going in on 1971 Slingsby T61A Motor glider. It's gotta 23:1 glide ratio! Oh boy Oh Boy Oh Boy!!!! There might be a pilot license in my future! Hell - I might even throw a couple grand at it ;-)

Here's some pictures of it:
