I don't have a similar story to tell, and I'm sure glad I don't--because if I'd caught that mofo who stole my ZX-10 in November '99, there woulda been some manslaughter charges on my record, bet on it. Apparently it's legal to use deadly force to protect your property in Texas, but Tallahassee ain't in Texas. I'm still pissed off about losing that bike.

Da burn and i have been in some pickles and circumstances that would make us grown men shivver. All is well now that we aren't 18 or 20 anymore. Sweet Jesus.
Still receiving and chasing paperwork for the new job. SHEESH! I know Treeman's throwdown is happnin' in a day or so. I would like to get there, but this gd back and forth correspondence has my teeth itching. Never know WHAT will show up in my email next. I start Monday, back with the same good crew. Thank goodness it's only Tuesday. Listening to Peter Frampton loud. What the hell - Why not? I crawl back into the trenches with "the man" next Monday. Might as well.... So much for my inept aspirations... SIGH!

Good story. I dunno about the preacher thing, tho -- seems to me they were after that night more likely thinking of honest work.

Stand-up riders
On the earlier topic of standing up while riding trails: I too am about 40# over my 70's fighting weight, and have generally found it much more difficult to stand up while busting along the single tracks.
However, about two months ago, I restored bicycling to my modest exercise regimen and it has helped my leg strentgh for motorcycling quite a bit. Dunno if it will continue, but it sure helps now.

And on that same topic of standing while riding, I was showing RSOJim around Blackwater on Wednesday and rode my KLR out there due to toasted wheel bearings on my DRZ. Anyway, we traded bikes (he had a new KLX250) and after riding Ye Olde KLR, he sez well with a suspension like that I can see why you stand up so much on this bike!
![]() Then yesterday we ride BW and I'm on my DRZ (freshly serviced at Mugwest Motorsports) and we trade bikes again and he sez well with a seat like that I can see why you stand up so much on this bike too! His KLX had the Seat Concepts treatment, and I'm tellin ya it felt like a frikken Goldwing compared to my DRZ
