Keeps the riff raff out in the woods and the nancy boys on the Wii playing Wii Dual Sport Rider since before Dual Sport Scooters were cool. Looking at the ACME Rain Gauge- it empty right now. I'm going to go fill it up so my bike will start

Brother Sister Ride...

~150 (s)miles. Took my sister Lise for a ride on the big Honda. Wanted to do something nice with her before she went back to Cali. Rode out to the Florabama and did lunch. Nice day! :-)

San Blas Ride

Well POGs, I've been wanting to see Cape San Blas for quite some time but just never got around to it until now. Left P-cola yesterday AM and headed east, stopping along the way at a couple of places I haven't been to in a while

Nothing but good memories here

Gas was $4.20 in Bruce, and they had pizza on sale. Coincidence? I think not

Stopped at the Fish House in Mex Beach to see if they still had Sierra Nevada; I used to eat here regularly before I said goodbye to Corporate America. Yes they still have Sierra and yes their flounder sandwiches are absolutely fit to eat!

Made it to the state park at San Blas at the required time (an hour before sunset), and signed in. The rangers were very friendly, and told me the best place to camp in the primitive camping area. So I rode on out there and started the hike in

The weather was perfect--about 70, a steady light breeze, and no skeeters. I set up camp and headed for the beach to get some sunset pics. Couldn't see the sunset from the trail, as the dunes were blocking my view

Out on the beach, looking southwest. This sunset made my Top Ten Sunsets of All Time list, and that's saying something

Just after the sunset, the moon rose on the other side of the sky. Beautiful! The moonrise pics all turned out somewhat blurry, I was trying to hold the camera steady but it's hard to hold it steady enough to get a good clear shot in low light conditions--for a Random Dipwad, anyway

Shaun arrived later and we stayed up well past midnight, catching up on all the latest happenings. I shoulda got a pic of the ranger who showed up and interrogated Shaun because he had been getting calls about some noisy-ass motorcycle running around in the campground. Don't you dare go offroad on that thing out here, or I'll hunt ya down, sez the ranger. Nope, not me, I'd never do a thing like that, sez Shaun the Law-Abiding Citizen. The ranger gave him a stern look and drove away. No more problems with The Man, and it was a peaceful (and chilly) night. This AM we hiked around and did some sightseeing

It was a fine morning, with just enough of a cool breeze to make it comfortable. I checked the water temp, still COLD

It's a seven mile hike out to the end of the cape from the primitive campground parking area, we didn't quite make it to mile 7. We did, however, make it past mile 1. Hey, I ain't a Boy Scout anymore, ya know

After a good lunch at the little cafe down the road from the state park (the name of which escapes me) Shaun and I parted ways and I headed back west. Stopped in this little town for my first visit, yes I've seen the movie but just never got around to going out there. Until today, that is

Ate at Dee's on Genehil's recommendation, and I want you all to know that their grilled shrimp sandwich is mighty tasty and a fantastic deal at $6, which includes a mountain of onion rings. Two thumbs up! Thanks for the recommendation, Gene

Sure am glad I finally got to see Cape San Blas, it was well worth the trip out there and in fact I hope to return. It's only 160 miles out there from my house via the most direct route, but if you do any exploring in EG on the way out it turns into 200+ pretty quickly. Time well spent, though. Let's do it again!
