Yeah, a gladiator edge to it. "Get laid and/or get cut." I can dig it.

That's a jaw dropping post. Runner up to VR's Womens Perspective on Motorcycling for post of the month in my book. Thanks for that one. I'll be thinking about that for a while.

25 years ago baby....ahhhh...25 years ago. Sport has always been the same for me:

It's actually very difficult to operate in this society when you were raised on motorcycles. We were always in the desert and my friends were always asking "Did you see the game?" and I would say "Um...which game/what sport?" I feel like such a misfit sometimes. I don't even know who is in the superbowl each year. Maybe when I get old I will become a sports fan. It's hard to have a conversation with normal people. Ow well...that's why I hang out with you freaks. :-)

I bet there's a song about straight vs curved sticks in this thread somewhere...

Damn you for making me cry! This was beautiful. Strange that it affected me so because I never played sports for my father; he was rarely present at any of my sporting events. However the rest of my life is an effort to please my dad.

And it's just a guess on my part, but I'd bet that's the same feeling he had when his father Walter suffered a aneurysm a few years ago. He talked a little bit about retiring then. I think I understand what he might have been thinking.
Wow.
Deep thoughts for a Friday night.

Great post
