I think you should write a book Sheldon, you certainly have a way with words.....although if you're like me the sense of humour is distinctly Aussie and gets lost in translation

After a week in Vegas it was time to hit the road. We had a great time relaxing taking in all the sites and casino's not losing to much money so that was a positive. The other day we both had got food poisoning in Caesar's Palace and I hadn't been feeling a 100% since but with the rates of the hotel being doubled for the weekend the decision was made easy. We had a late checkout at 1 so we weren't going to be going to far or so we thought.

First stop was only 30 miles away at the Hoover dam

The Hoover dam used to be the biggest dam in the world till the Chinese one over the Yangtze River but I'd like to know how big the dam over the Zambezi between Zambia and Zimbabwe I rode over back in Africa it may not officially be as big but if it isn't it must be dam close.

The view up the river from the dam was really very nice.

To be honest I wasn't overly impressed by the Hoover dam, I know they claim its one of the modern marvels of engineering but to me I'd much prefer to sit and look at natural scenery than man made stuff.

After hanging around for awhile it was on the road again not exactly knowing where we were going but obviously the Grand Canyon was on the hit list at some point heading east.

We stopped for lunch and saw this little church, I thought about going in for a pray but was a little concerned I might burst into flames if I did.

Riding along minding my own business and came across the turn off to the Skywalk at the Grand Canyon so turned off and headed the 60 miles, it was a nice ride with about 20 miles of it on dirt but fantastic scenery.

We arrived at the Skywalk to find out it was going to cost 35 bucks each just to see the view as they have a car park and you have to catch a bus up to the canyon, not a bad way to get your money out of your pocket, on top of that it was another 30 to do the Skywalk but hey we aren't going to be coming back here in a hurry so out with the cash and of w went.

Ev on the Skywalk, they wanted another 90 bucks for 3 photos ahahaha yeah right buggalugs as if.

Then it as my turn

There was plenty of spots to enjoy the views around here.

It's along way down through here, I hope that last mac attack doesn't come back to haunt me.

Some days are just tougher than others but I'll struggle through.

Ewa saying take a step back honey, come on one more baby, trust me.

Just one of the beautiful views of the Grand Canyon.

A nice walk along the rim of the to finish our first Grand Canyon experience.

That wasn't the end of the day we still had nowhere to stay, so on the bike we got and headed for Kingman about 60 miles away. It turned out to be a hard ride on the dirt road firstly, I could hardly see anything with the headlight I've got on this bike and my back and neck were giving me hell more than usual I'm not sure why but it was bad enough for me to have to pull over in the middle of nowhere just to suck it in a bit. We arrived in Kingman about 8:30 and got a hotel and walked up the road to get some dinner only to find out we were on Route 66, well that worked out ok I had forgotten all about it.

There was one other spot I had wanted to get to see and that was the Berringer Crater near Winslow here in Arizona so that was on the agenda for today so up we got and headed east.

We have decided to head out to the Barringer Crater then up to the Grand Canyon again then ride Route 66 all the way back to LA so we have a fun few days riding ahead.

Arrived at the Crater a few hours later after a nice relaxing ride along the highway.

Ewa and the Barringer Crater.

Ewa checking out the view from the lower platform, apparently you could fit 20 full size football fields in the base of the crater it really is deceptively big

Part of the iron Nickel meteorite that crashed into the ground here. The piece in front of me in this photo weighs an amazing 600+ kilograms.

Yeah ok give me a shot at Arthurs sword then. Of course I didn't try to hard as I had no room on the bike for such a thing.

We ended up back in Flagstaff and booked into a hotel, it was pretty busy so we just got the first one that had vacancies so it wasn't real flash but ok for us. The bad news is I got really crook so we ended up in Flagstaff for 3 nights. We have a bit of time up our sleeve we don't have to leave the states till Oct the 2nd and pretty much seen all we had wanted to already so we can relax a little on our last few weeks here which will be nice.

So today it was off to the Grand Canyon for another ride along the South Rim, here's just a few pics of the days ride.

We took the 89 north from Flagstaff

But a little detour through to the Sunset Crater and the 1000 year old Wukoki Pueblo Ruins.

A local boy enjoying a nice day hanging out relaxing having a bite to eat.

Here's just a few random shots of the Grand Canyon.

We had a great days ride through the Grand canyon National Park but now it was out of there and heading west to Los Angeles riding the 470 miles of Route 66 over the next few days, unfortunately Ewa has started to feel crook now so that may slow us up a little again but all good.

Hi Sheldon,
had a look into the RR section and found out that you are still travelling the world with your two babies. Thanks for the daily updates on your adventures!!! It's all really entertaining especially for someone working all week.
