new Honda for 2014

Not that I'm a huge trials guy (heck, I don't even have a bike yet ) but I saw this with the new release of bikes today and thought I'd share.

Nothing official but according to my local dealer and he says 50 bikes are coming in April only one per dealer in the first shipment. unless not enough dealers participate then maybe more. My local dealer does plan to participate.

Can only be a good thing.

Good exposure for the sport, to have a trials bike sitting in a bunch of showrooms. Especially if they are handing out nice glossy brochures, too.

Hopefully they bring in lots of them!!!

I suspect that there will not be very many of these sitting in dealers showrooms.
I'm thinking it's going to be not unlike how Yamaha worked it with FJR,
You order it and it will come. So unless a dealer decides they are going to order it and have it sit around.
I doubt you will see them unless you happen on a dealer who's uncrated one but not delivered it the customer.

Still it's awesome that Honda took the leap to even bring it in.

Had a guy call me yesterday who works at the parts department a local Honda shop not the one I spoke of earlier that is going to stock a bike but another local dealer. He wanted to know if i new of any good used entry level trials bikes no brand preference the new Honda had stirred his interest. To me it all depends on what america Honda is up to. They took over the rights to the bike in 08 from the distributor and left them out of the country for 6 years. The question is are they bringing them in now to stir up sales or just to showcase the Honda line. I suspect they will sell all 50 bikes soon because of previous Montesa owners who haven't been able to upgrade for 6 years. Then what? send over more and promote the bike and the sport or starve the Montesa fans and bring them over again in another 6 years. I have no idea what there plans are but i suspect American Honda will either become a hero or a villain to the trials world.
I plan to post directions to where we practice with my phone # and post any events on the stocking dealers board. Then when someone comes in sees that beautiful bike on the floor and says they don't ride those around here do they. They can say yes there is a flyer on the board drive 20 miles and you can take a look.
What if each club could try to get a local dealer to floor stock a bike and do the same just a thought.

I bought one of the first U.S. FJRs. A few Yamaha dealers ordered them for stock and sold them at a premium. Six to eight months later they could be found on a few dealers floors around the country. Now, of course, they're readily available.
I think that Honda's mistake is not making both models available. It's the American way to want what you can't have, so either one will leave customers unhappy that they can't buy the other.

That is one pretty bike.

I think when I get my TLR200 I will do it up in those Repsol colors.

I've never even touched a trials bike, but I want one of those!

....I should probably start looking for a good used trials bike to try out and see if I can ride across a 2x4 sideways without falling before I spend $9k on a new bike
