A3W Motiv... Just... WHY?

Okay, I'll admit that I'd give it a try if ever the opportunity arose, but...
The one word that kept bashing me in the head as I was watching this was: WHY?
This looks for all the world like a solution desperately in search of a problem, to me.
Your thoughts?

Fascinating....its certainly a study of engineering. A problem that needed solving, it's not but as a biker it makes me super curious.
Wouldnt it be weird to buy tires in threes? And are all the tires smaller than a conventional bike then? It almost looks as if it's got three fronts on it- but with three tired you wouldnt need as much tire width How would counter steering work if your front is coupled to the middle tire?

and whats the benefit of making the middle wheel drive?

So many questions.....

Doubt it will go into production. If it does people are going to lose feet

Looks like it, to me. The middle driver would have to be somewhat small. Even as it is, it doesn't seem to leave much room for engine & transmission.

I agree it's unlikely to ever see production. It seems to me to add needless complication, for no benefit. Someone's engineering class project, maybe?

It would allow for a lot of power to be applied without wheelieing or sliding out being an issue.
Other than that I don't see a lot of benefit.

No wheelies...... sounds like a blast

Makes absolutely no sense at all to me, yet still somehow makes more sense than the asphalt-snowmobiles people ride around on.
At least that ridiculous thing can lean.

Seems like you should have more grip in turns with a third tire
Seems like there will be more gyroscopic effect with a third wheel

Piaggio's 3-wheeled scooters can lean, and have been able to do so since they were launched in 2006 or so.

Tilting Whore-ly

These can lean too but they are only made for Whore-ly Dollar-signs right now.

This A3 thing looks pretty stupid, to me. Much added complexity, added weight,
especially unsprung weight, and for what?

The Can Am also never favorably impressed me. It has the width of a car, the exposure of a motorcycle, and the handling of neither.

The classic trike a la Harley and Goldwing are a joke. The worst possible arrangement for handling and safety.

The only three wheeler to date that flips any switch in me is the Piaggio. It leans, REALLY leans. And, the two front wheels gives traction and braking where it can be best used, the front.

You can spin or lock up the drive wheel and stay upright.

Looks kinda like one of those extended busas
