Congrats on a fun gun to modify!...you DO realize that you won't stop until you've spent around $600 or more on it don't you?..Stace roller trigger...RJMachine breach...flow-thru bolt....and of course you GOTTA ditch those plastic grips.

Read my mind $600! I thought it was a cheap new hobby. I've got some interesting hardwoods around for grips, I like the mahogany look, although koa would be nice... I like the hands on aspect of modifying these things, the trigger has already been "altered" & i even refound the safety ball bearing .

The thing I like is it can be inexpensive.....I don't know how many rounds (or are they called rounds in an air rifle) in this $100 rifle and the thing is still dead on balls accurate.

I was shooting cherries out of one of our trees last night at 25yards....they are the real hard not human eatable kind...they are a tick smaller than a dime. And hitting them in the stiff wind last night. This thing is so much fun....and I figure if I shoot up all the cherries the darn deer will not come around so much.

Crosman 357 .177 Caliber CO2 Pellet Pistol LEAKS

Recently I received a Crosman 357 pistol from a friend as a token of appreciation.

However, after using two Powerlets the gun leaks.
Any Powerlet inserted leaks forcefully when pierced (3x).
The first leak caught me by surprise and cooled the palm of my hand
considerably.

I called Crosman. Very friendly people.
The serial number indicated that it was manufactured in June 2012.
No problem returning it for warranty work if I have a sales receipt.
The gun was registered via the Internet.

I don't have the receipt and I don't want to tell my friend that his gift
is defective.

This is my first foray into CO2.
It will probably be my last.

I own a few pump air rifles and a spring pistol which have held up well
for decades.

Should I go to Walmart and just buy a replacement?

Then again suppose I get another one that leaks.

The packaging:

Any thoughts?

George

Does the actual gun have a serial number? If so then the original receipt may include it and you are pretty much 'stuck'. If not you could purchase another and use the receipt to get either one repaired as needed. Not that you need two of them. It may be 'awkward' to mention to your friend that the gun is defective but you both know that it isn't his fault. No doubt, at some point he will ask how it is working and how much you like it, not mentioning the problem now really just puts off that awkward moment to the future (or swaps it for another).

Yes it does. The serial number indicated that the gun was manufactured in June of this year according to the person on the phone at Crosman.

I stuck another powerlet into the gun a few minutes ago.
The CO2 came out through the opening which lines up with barrel.
Seems like a valve is not working.

I did use Crosman pellet gun oil.

George, I'd first try a few more powerlets with the tips well oiled and try firing the gun (without pellets) as they leak down..this may dislodge dirt that may have stuck the valve open....failing that, try posting the prob on any of the crosman forums...very helpful people who will walk you thru steps to fix that particular model.

Speaking of Crosman..I had some fun turning down a spare 2240 barrel to 6.1mm for my umarex ppk bb pistol...made it much more accurate at around 12' but at longer distances due to the rifleing the bb curves like a curveball!...

ModEdit: Video buggered the thread. Video deleted.

I'll try accessing Crosman forums through googling.

The powerlets are depleted faster than I can count seconds.

George

Oct.18 noon edit
Blew 6 powerlets through the gun as fast as I could pull the trigger.
The leaking CO2 emits from the barrel.
Valve leaks.

Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. I was looking at 2240's on line yesterday, but I'm still playing with my current guns. And the NP pistol is supposed to be out in February.
