I often kick up rocks etc. from the front wheel. That's why I went with the SW Motech skid plate.

For the exhaust heat shield at the right foot peg problem, is the one from twisted throttle any good?

That looks the ticket - I have ordered pretty much all my stuff from TT for the Tigger and I've never seen that before. I need to go search a little harder.

Thanks

Watch this:

And wait for Twisted Throttle to release that new designed heel guard. The description starts at 3:22 or so.

Update: Bummer, didn't see the above message before I posted.

So, Danny, you've just had the bike on a big ride, what did you think?? Has the new mapping from Triumph you were talking about fixed the problems (have you had that done yet)?

From an observer's perspective, it seemed to handle the PAR fine, even though you were probably concentrating on the photography more than the bike. Hope the water we took you to ended up with great photo's.

Nice to meet you up there.

cheers,

TJ

The problem i see with the SWMototech skid plate is that its 3 pieces rivited together. My buddy smacked a rock on a recent ride and 2 rivets popped out.. I have the OEM skid plate and it works for my needs but maybe in the future i'll upgrade to the altrider skid plate it looks wicked cool.

Looks like it would work, thanks. I'm gonna call tomorrow and see what the lead time is. If it's gonna be a while I'll just make a trip to the local metal shop and ghetto fab one. I can't sacrifice any more pants.

Great post, more posts like this would help a noob like me out.

Do you have a picture of this flipped clamps? I would like the bar closer to me as well - I have a long torso and short limbs and sitting or standing it seems like I am reaching more than I should need to.

As everyone said the TT shield likely will be the best bet on the pants problem. We need to push them to get moving with the production.

Let us all know what they said - if lots of people calling would help move the process along then I'd be more than happy to call...

How to do this is described in the manual. Mine were in the aft position when I took delivery, but I'm still thinking about rotating them up a bit and adding a riser as well.

Haven't had any problems yet in this area, though I will add this when it does come out. Thought it was mighty nice of TT to advertise it in their trailer without even a placeholder for it on the website.

That's it for now and I'll post more as the farkles roll in.
Thanks for posting up your impressions of the 800XC in comparison to two well known bikes. I am looking at the 800XC as a future replacement for my KLR of something better doesn't come out from Kawi soon. I loved the 800 triple motor when I demo'd the bike earlier this year.

I'm really stoked to hear from the inmates here who've had a chance to get these bikes off-road that they are working really well. I had my doubts about it during my too brief demo ride around city streets, it's so hard to gauge in those limited conditions.

Keep the good info coming.

So I called Twisted Throttle today and they said that the heat shield is still in the works and we should expect it between 90 days and 6 months, maybe less. Apparently it would have been here sooner but the redesign held everything up.

I might try to rig something temporary in the meantime.

i've always thought that was shortcoming of motech's construction techniques. i'm sure there is a alum. welder in your area that could weld the seams together

Twisted Throttle showed a product they are designing exactly for this issue. I don't see it on their website, but it was in one of their promo videos for the Tiger I saw. Look there.
