If you're wondering why this 'finished' one doesn't seem to go very fast (other than downhill) I can probably offer a little advice...

Nice work!

Just in case you don't already know, the dual sprocket setup belongs on one of the older CTs without the dual range box. No reason to haul around that big heavy sprocket, plus the small sprocket it fits over is 40 tooth where it should be a 45 tooth for engines with the dual range box.

Now on to the next one -- decided to try out a new Lifan 150cc engine in this one.

I'll be adding some other color to the frame, the brown didn't turn out as good as I thought.

Some progress on the latest CT90:

The seat was toast, so I used it as an opportunity to play around with some leatherwork:

Traded some parts for a sweet handlebar set up:

And made a box to hold the new battery in with some style:

Great work on those bikes. Did you put Shinko 244's on the first done? If so which size did you go with, 2.50 or the 3.00?

So jealous. Perfect paint (kindof a dark mustard?). Is that an OEM color?

Dear Honda....

Pleeeeeeease, ferchrissakes, bring back the ct90/110 with dual speed tranny and only minor changes like better brakes, shocks, and ignition. My primary criteria for love of any machine, functionally and aesthetically, is no nonsense. Certain 60's and 70's vintage Honda and BMW motorcycles, American pickups, Volvo station wagons, Jeeps and Broncos, and others seemed to exemplify this ethos. What happened? The CTs are textbook as far as I'm concerned.

Thesis... meet antithesis

Soichiro Honda weeps in his grave.

Sorry, I'm inexplicably in the small minority on this one, and realize that they are not quite the same class, but the Ruckus is just an abomination by any comparison. Nonsense.

Ya know, I agree with you in principle. Honda makes a ton of bikes that are available elsewhere and not here. Why is that? Honda likes to make money. They are quite proud of their products, so yea, they like to make money.

I have the answer. Honda is smarter than we all think. Walk into a dealer and try to buy a ninja 250, and they try to sell you a ninja 1000. We are all stuck on this bigger is better thing in the US and it isn't helping our economy or our environment. Look, SYM came out with the SYMBA, and no one bought it. Yup, it was a bit overpriced for what you got, but they probably read these forums thinking old passport owners would buy them like hot cakes. Believe me, If the Symba had really sold their would never have been the "fire" at their distributor. We all know that the fire was very fishy.

Symba is trying it again with the new wolf. That is one sweet looking bike, and I have question about SYM's quality. I know that it is every bit as good as Honda. If you doubt me then tell me why did Honda make bikes in the SYM factory? Again, 3k for a carbed 150cc is a bit much. I can find plenty of 150 to 250 scooter out there with FI for less money. Look, this bike is NOT gonna sell, and I want one. What is that thing gonna sell for OTD? 3.7k?? Is nostalgia worth it. I can by a used sportster with less than 10k on it for 4 grand and I could sell it a year later for..... close to 4k. Bikes are cool, but they have to make financial sense. Even Harley haters have to agree that the purchase of a used Harley isn't usually going to end up a bad financial decision. I have had my Harley for over 15 years and it has costs me a few sheckles per day to ride!

So Honda, being the stupid company they are, isn't going to make a CT90. The SH is a perfect example of what I am talking about. It is the most popular model in Europe, and they can't sell enough here to carry it on for more than 1 model year. Case closed.

If you want Honda to get your drift... buy a bunch of SYM's and show them the USA is a true market for small displacement nostalgia.
