I only ran the price on 1 tire. I have a brand new Shinko 700 front to go on the front.
Mean time I am trying Shinko 705"s.

USA SHIPPING RATES

Shipping charges are based on a flat rate depending on the order subtotal, before discounts:
Under $100 = $25
$100 - 199.99 = $35
$200 - 299.99 = $45
$300 - 399.99 = $55
$400 - 499.99 = $65
$500 - 599.99 = $75
$600+ = flat rate of $100, plus $10 for each $100 thereafter (ie: $700 = $110, $800 = $120)

Those shipping prices are only to Canada. us shipping prices are found in a different area.

Geez, what a clusterfuck. Are these tires for sale in the US or not?
Since when is a NA distributor based in Canada? $35 to ship a tire? When everybody else down here ships free?

Nevermind, I'll go with something else.

Unless they're listed wrong, doesn't that section header say "USA Shipping Rates"????

It's a shame the distributor is worthless, I really like the ones I've tried.

Just to add a bit to the discussion...the current rear I'm running on my F800 cost $85 shipped and is going strong with over 5,000 miles on it. I had a really fun 400 mile day on it yesterday with about a quarter of that being dirt.

I got tired of playing the Heidenau Game (over priced tires that aren't nearly as good as the hype and cost extra to have shipped) then started looking for other options. I found Mitas and thought..."wow this looks like a solid line of tires".

But tires are consumable expenses...you burn up your money. I run around 20,000 miles a year on my motorcycle and replace tires between 3 and 4 times a year. It would be silly to pay for shipping on already expensive tires when the market is full of good tires at affordable prices for which shipping has already been factored into the cost.

If I really wanted something exotic it's easy enough to find just about any tire shipped from Europe or Australia for $35 to $50 on Ebay...why in the world would I pay that price from a reseller that is practically in my own neighborhood?

It's actually a serious question and one on which my purchase predication is laid.

Mitas needs to have a U.S. distributor if they plan to sell to the U.S. market if for no other reason than to be competitive with their pricing and shipping options.

I've already thrown out the idea but I'll throw it out again...what would it take to start a relationship with Mitas and become it's authorized distributor in the U.S. -> is it a bulk buy in, a minimum purchase contract, what are the details?

Hopefully they'll get their act together soon. I just got an E-09 from the US dist. a couple of weeks ago. I was going to send it back and see if I could get a fresher one as the one I got was 3 1/2 years old. After a couple of E-mails I finally found a phone # for them in Charlotte, NC. I got a guy who was nice, but didn't in the end follow thru with a shipping label. I'm just going to keep it and run it at this point. I'm not too bad concerned with the production date, but I've always believed a new tire should be 2 years old or less to be considered "new". I look foreward to news of any USA distribution that has a working system!

If in doubt just email them. When I bought my E07s they were very quick to respond with a shipping quote etc.

Thanks for the call Daniel. I didn't mean you weren't trying. I sent emails to the US distributor and had no luck at all.
